A hidden gem

Dec 13, 2014 - posted by
I found this place on line and suggested it to our friends of 27 years, They looked at me as though I had 2 heads, but decided to go with us. What a fabulous place. and a great host, the owner Peter.

We started with an appetizer of potato pancakes which were better than my grandmother made when I was a child. They were huge, and a great bargain at $10 for 5 giant pancakes.

We had 4 different dishes.(weiner schnitzel, pork cutlet, stuffed grooper, and pan fried grooper)

Each dish was better than the other, but the pork cutlet won the prize. Dessert was apple strudel or German chocolate cake, each delicious and homemade. I almost forget the homemade noodles and mashed potatoes on the side of the main dishes.

I asked Peter why more traffic didn't flow into his restaurant, and he said that his location next to Wendy's wasn't ideal.

Trust me, a person that doesn't bother to write reviews, this place is a must. Coming from New York City with very fancy and expensive restaurants where you pay for the atmosphere. Instead of wasting your money on over-rated places in Aruba, go here.

Great Spaetzle

Sep 25, 2014 - posted by
It was a great restaurant. Everybody was friendly and happy. The hardest think to select is a beer from over 40 selections. My favorite is their spaetzle. They as good as my mothers. (Actually truth since my mother will not read this. They are better then hers.) I will highly recommend this restaurant.

Great food, fun evening!

Jun 15, 2014 - posted by
4 adults, 3 near-adults (18-20). We all loved our food. The owner was sehr gastfreundlich (friendly), happy for us to practice a little German with him. He modified the dishes for the size of our group, that is, happy to bring us 7 Pfannkuchen instead of the 5 or 10 listed on the menu. (His suggestion, in fact.) I think we've had Bratwurst elsewhere (Germany & Milwaukee) that we preferred, but nothing wrong with the Brats. Great Spaetzle, Roulade.

Very funny that now I can't wait to get back to Aruba for some really good German food.

The Bier was also great; we had 5 or 6 kinds.

True homestyle food

We are locals that enjoy homemade meals, so when we go to restaurants, we are seldom impressed, especially with side dishes. This is the first time we tried Bavaria and I was very skeptical at first. I'm not somebody that write reviews ever, but this restaurant blew me away. Everything (except for the French fries) was homemade. the pork schnitzel I had was thick, but juicy and tender. My husband is even more of a critic than me, but boy he liked everything. We were a party of seven (I have 5 children) and everybody was satisfied and happy. I had kids meals also and the chicken wings was delicious. Bavaria became my children's favorite restaurant. We will be going soon back!

Great Beer!

We had heard about this restaurant while in Aruba so we thought we would just stop in for a couple of beers and pretzels. Excellent! Beer was great and the pretzels were very fresh. Tons of choices for beers. Would definitely go back. The owner made time to come out and talk to us.

Large Craft beer selection

Jan 29, 2014 - posted by
If you like good Craft beers don't miss Bavaria. They have up to 40 different beers available, which they serve ice cold in a casual ambiente.
Recently they got comfortable arm chairs and extended the bar (which is made from empty beer crates) to double the size. I can only recommend
the authentic German food and reasonable prices. Will be back soon !

I go to Bavaria every time I'm in Aruba an this time was no exception. The food is always great especially my favorite the Smoked Pork Chops with Sauerkraut and Potatoes. Peter - the owner - is very personal in service as well knowledgeable in his beer selection. I will be back next time on the island.
