Horrible! What Happened?

Mar 25, 2014 - posted by
We have been coming to Aruba for 14 years and this has always been a favorite. Last night we went to Hostaria da Vittorio and it was like a totally different restaurant. The bread tasted like frozen rolls, the Chicken Parm was tough and tasteless; the gnocci was awful with chunks of mozzarella and cherry tomatos instead of their usual red sauce; and the lasagne was no better than a stoffers frozen meal. I don't know if it's under new ownership or what happened, but our favorite restaurant is no longer. Such a shame. Now we will have to find another favorite restaurant in Aruba.

Not good.

We ate there recently. I had the lasagna the wife had chicken parm. Both were extremely bland and flavorless. My lasagna was borderline inedible . First and last time for us here.

Expensive and Bland

Sep 23, 2013 - posted by
I've been to this restaurant a few times in the past and thought it was good. So my friend and I decided to try it again for lunch. We both ordered a bowl of pasta each. I had the Orrecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage. They had the Puttanesca. They were both bland and I think I had only a 1/4 sausage for the whole dish. We both each had a glass of house wine. I could not believe when I got the bill for $80! They had the nerve to charge $12 for a glass of house wine. The pasta dishes were $23 each which I thought was too expensive as well. The tip of course is included. Needless to say, we will not be back.

Don't go!

My wife and I tried this restaurant even though it was not on our list of "must try's". What a mistake. Can you imagine an Italian restaurant out of lasagna? Next, bread was not fresh and tasted more like Irish soda bread than anything Italian. Finally, our meals, while served hot, we're soooo salty we could not enjoy them. Service was rather cold and not once did our server ask how our meals were. All-in-all, not an experience we'll soon repeat!

Wife and I had been here before. Italian is generally tough on island vacations but this place has authentic food. I think that so much of your experience depends on your choices and it's hit or miss but lucky for me the meals we choose we're outstanding. The food was excellent great service nice atmosphere decent prices. Highly highly recommend.

Excellent Italian Food, Service & Ambiance

May 3, 2012 - posted by
My wife and I have been going to Hosteria DaVittorio for years and have never been disappointed. From the moment you are greeted at the door until the moment you leave, you are treated as though you are long-time friends. The staff service, friendliness and attentiveness, and food selection, freshness, quality and preparedness is exceptional. Our EggPlant Rollatina Appetizer was 'to die for' and a perfect start for two people. My Frutta de Mare over Linguini was excellent, as was my wife's Homemade Ravioli with Pomodora Sauce. And unlike many of the restaurants in Aruba, there is no Service Charge, making me you feel free to tip 'what' they deserve, and you 'will' be generous, I assure you. Also, the prices are reasonable. If you enjoy Italian food, service and atmosphere, I would highly recommend that you visit Hostaria DaVittorio on your next vacation in Aruba.

disappointed

Apr 24, 2012 - posted by
Arrived on time for my reservation and rather than sit in the nice dining room my family was show a table in a smaller hot room just before the terrace. We all ordered
Chioken Parmagian and when our dishes arrived we were all
very disappointed.
The chicken seems to have been manufactured and shaped into an oval piece of meat. It was very thin, very hard and had little taste and was dry.
To top off our meal one of the waiters that night dropped a tray of wine glasses near us
