Papillon Restaurant
Henri Charrière, one of the world's most famous prisoners, would surely have had the time of his life at Papillon Restaurant in The Village, across from the Radisson Resort. Nicknamed Papillon because of the butterfly tattoo on his chest, the Frenchman was the first convict to escape from Devil's Island, something that nobody had ever done before. Charrière's thrilling, gripping autobiography has been the concept behind Papillon Restaurant.
Papillon Restaurant's menu reflects the Frenchman's arduous journey to freedom: classic French dishes have been dusted with daring Caribbean flair and are a culinary journey for your taste buds. Papillon is open daily for dinner.

I certainly don't understand the hype about the food at Papillon.
DO NOT BE DECEIVED by the ratings.
The service is very slow although the staff was very friendly, the men's toilet was very dirty, the background music was too loud and the prices too high. The waiter only came to ask if we wanted another drink after we were done eating. The filet mignon could not have tasted worse. I had to keep sprinkling pepper and salt over it so I could finish it. We would have been better off eating burgers and fries at Five Guys right next door to Papillon.

Although the restaurant is excelent, I would like to comment about the price of wine, very expensive. When you do option for menu early bird for $29,90 you dont think to pay $10 for a litle cup of wine. I thinked it could be a trap and totally unnecessary.
I recommend to this site another avaliation like costs x benefit.
Thanks.

Ate at pappilon for the first time last year and i was not disappointed. Everything about this restaurant exceeded my expectations. The meal was superb as was the service. The environment was second to none, looked just like a set from the movie. Can't say enough about this restaurant. Looking forward to eating there again this year.

Someone at the hotel recommended this restaurant to us. We were not disappointed. The food, service and attention to detail was superb. They even took our picture and emailed it to us at our hotel before we left. We ate at some other wonderful restaurants including Madame Janette and Papillon was as good, if not better, than any of them.

We visited Aruba during the second week of March, 2011, we heard about Papillon on this site. we decided to to try the restaurant. The food was ok nothing extra ordinary, the restaurant was too loud and the stores near by were very crowded and noisy. Service was OK and friendly. not sure if I would try it again, there are better restaurants on the island. If you don't mind overprice average food and crowd, then you should try this place.

We ate at this lovely place twice in February. We ate early and did not have a reservation. Everyone was lovely, food was delicious, and service was excellent. I had the halibut both nights. The house wines are very good. The patio is a pleasant place to have a relaxing meal. I would not hesitate in returning, in fact it is on my list for next year. The bar is a nice place for a drink and the bartender was very friendly.

My wife and I tried this as one of our new restaurants for the trip. It has now become a permanant fixture for us in the future. Very comfortable surroundings, terrific menu and the best all around service anywhere. Everyone from the owner, our server and even the young lady who seated us were fantastic. You talk about feeling pampered!!! You all do the island very proud. Thank you for a GREAT EVENING.

PAPILLON was a new addition to our dining venues this year in ARUBA. We had heard a great deal of positive things about the place for a few years and decided that it was time to try it out for ourselves and we were not disappointed (other than that we had not tried the place earlier). Everything about the place speaks of quality except perhaps the location which we found to be a bit dingy - even if you ate outside. Understand that we have been to Devil's Island and have seen the real location that this restaurant tries to emulate. Unfortunately, the only ting that comes close to resembling what is on Devil's Island is the toilets and even they are lacking in resemblance. Why anyone would choose the theme of the Papillon story to base a restaurant upon, is beyond us. BUT, regardless of the story or the setting, the restaurant is a very good one that we would encourage all to visit. Go for the food and the service (which is a bit slow, but we sensed that was intentional in order to not rush people)not the setting and ignore SENOR FROG which is close by. PAPILLON is a very good restaurant and should be patronized as such. We will be returning next year.

We spent 3 weeks eating at the top restaurants in Aruba and found Papillon to be our favorite! The food was excellent gourmet, fresh and well presented. Our server (Leon) was superb, and the wine selection chosen by the bartender (Susan) was the best we've had in Aruba.
