Papillon Restaurant
Henri Charrière, one of the world's most famous prisoners, would surely have had the time of his life at Papillon Restaurant in The Village, across from the Radisson Resort. Nicknamed Papillon because of the butterfly tattoo on his chest, the Frenchman was the first convict to escape from Devil's Island, something that nobody had ever done before. Charrière's thrilling, gripping autobiography has been the concept behind Papillon Restaurant.
Papillon Restaurant's menu reflects the Frenchman's arduous journey to freedom: classic French dishes have been dusted with daring Caribbean flair and are a culinary journey for your taste buds. Papillon is open daily for dinner.

We heard of Papillon before, but this was our first try. The food, service, decor, experience was EXCELLENT. I hope it remains at it's current level. I would rate this as high as any world-wide.

Papillon was a pleasant surprise after some disappointing meals in Aruba. The service, the food and presentation were all top notch. We've dined at many of the finest restaurants around the world and Papillon is right up there with the best. The entrees were superb and the desserts just amazing. Though small in size it has a very cozy atmosphere and the staff attended to us like family. This is a definite must for anyone visiting Aruba.

This was my third visit to Arubh since August 2010. During my first visit, I was introduced to Papillon, and it was a wonderful experience. During this current visit, we made of point of dining the first night on the island and the last night. The staff is always warm and welcoming. The food was fabulous, cooked perfectly, presented beautifully. We asked for salads and entrees to be split...no problem and it made the portions perfect! Enjoy Aruban hospitality, fine food and, you too, may have a new friend in Aruba.

The food was the best in Aruba during my stay! The environment was authentic and welcoming. Service was attentive, sat at the bar and the bartender was accommodating and friendly. After a great meal, I was given advice on things to do on the island, which turned out to be spot on. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Aruba.

Excelente comida.
100% recomendable.

Nothing but positive things to say about Papillon.
It’s just a great looking place that reminded me a little of the amusement park rides of my childhood with all the decorations and attention to detail. Greeted by the hostess (who we wish luck with her pregnancy by the way) we entered the place and took our seats. We had great appetizers and even better main courses. My lamb was still a little to red inside so without any fuzz our waiter took it back and it came back out cooked perfectly and the flavors of the rack of lamb and especially the sauce were superb. No harm because we were enjoying our wine. To finish it all we had a nice surprising flavored mousse tasting to share. Papillon takes a place high on my list of restaurants to visit when on Aruba, and we have high standards as far as service and food goes.
Keep up the good work guys. And we will see you next year.

On the second day of our trip, we stopped by Papillon to look at the menu and the hostess' friendliness enticed us to come in. We liked the experience so much that we came back again on our last night in Aruba. The restaurant crew hit the right notes on all three keys: attentive service, delicious food and affordable pricing options. Service is terrific as we were made welcome by everyone from the hostess, Danielle, to waitress to busperson to the manager. Our daughter suffers severe allergy to all dairy products and the staff worked with us to get her a delicious worry free meal by altering dishes from the kids menu. Food was terrific on both visits. We had steaks, crab cakes, foir gras, grouper, triple tail (i might have gotten the name of the fish wrong) and duck breast. All dishes were extremely tasty and well presented. Did i mention creme brulee -- the best i ever had from Moscow to Dallas!! they change flavors from time to time and both of mine were an absolute hit. The pricing is quite reasonable considering Arubian prices. Papillon has early bird menu available till 7pm that allows for a very affordable three course meal for under $30. Most of the al a carte dishes are available on the early bird menu. In short, we Papillon to be a terrific choice. I hope the restaurant retains its distinguishing characteristics for a long time. We will come back on our next trip to Aruba.

On our 3rd trip to Aruba 12/2009, we decided to try out Papillon which we discovered through the handouts passed out in the free bags at the airport. We loved it! We ate there twice last year and returned again this December. Danielle and the staff are wonderful. After a year they remembered us (even where we sat last year)! The service is great - they are very attentive and friendly. One of our favorite restaurants and they are on our repeat list for whenever we return.

We visited this restaurant by chance and thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't let the style of cuisine put you off-this is not a stuffy French restaurant at all. It is a world-class fine dining experience in a casual outdoor environment and was our best dining experience during our trip by far. The hostess, Daniela and our server Leon were incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs. We dined with our son who is one years old with little patience. However thanks to Daniella and Leon's attention to him during our meal, we spent over two hours and were able to enjoy, a three course meal. The amuse bouche was a grouper in a puff pastry and was a pleasant surprise and absolutely delicious. The presentation of each dish was amazing, and better yet the preparation and tastes were great. My husband ordered the Grouper and I ordered the Beef Bourginon (spelling sorry- don't speak or write french). At any rate, I don't enjoy fish but the grouper was fantastic. The beef was also quite tasty. The salads were the best we had on the island, the apple tart was incredible with a holiday tree drizzle presentation. Creative, simple and delicious. We normally have our pre-planned list of restaurants when go to Aruba, most of which were recommended by dining enthusiasts on sites like this, and Papillon is now a part of our rotation. I highly suggest visiting Papillon, you will not be disappointed.
