Papillon Restaurant
Henri Charrière, one of the world's most famous prisoners, would surely have had the time of his life at Papillon Restaurant in The Village, across from the Radisson Resort. Nicknamed Papillon because of the butterfly tattoo on his chest, the Frenchman was the first convict to escape from Devil's Island, something that nobody had ever done before. Charrière's thrilling, gripping autobiography has been the concept behind Papillon Restaurant.
Papillon Restaurant's menu reflects the Frenchman's arduous journey to freedom: classic French dishes have been dusted with daring Caribbean flair and are a culinary journey for your taste buds. Papillon is open daily for dinner.

Papillon is without a doubt the best new restaurant in Aruba for 2009. The ambiance is terrific in an intimate courtyard type setting where you can sit back, relax and enjoy one of the best wine lists on the island - all this of course leading up to a great meal (try the risotto). Service is also top notch with an especially gracious manager.

We had dinner there recently, and let me say- it was OUTSTANDING. The french onion soup was the best I have ever had (all over the world!), the carpaccio and tuna tartare were incredibly fresh, delicate and exquisite, as were all the entrees. The service (Tina) was lovely. She was attentive to every detail. Her extensive knowledge of wine was so helpful in pairing a glass with each dish. The desserts were all appealing, yet we were too full to sample any. It is very well located, convenient to all high rise hotels- I only wish it overlooked the water. But I assure you, this will not keep me from visiting this restaurant again and again when I return to Aruba. My favorite! ***ASK FOR TINA!***
