Papillon Restaurant
Henri Charrière, one of the world's most famous prisoners, would surely have had the time of his life at Papillon Restaurant in The Village, across from the Radisson Resort. Nicknamed Papillon because of the butterfly tattoo on his chest, the Frenchman was the first convict to escape from Devil's Island, something that nobody had ever done before. Charrière's thrilling, gripping autobiography has been the concept behind Papillon Restaurant.
Papillon Restaurant's menu reflects the Frenchman's arduous journey to freedom: classic French dishes have been dusted with daring Caribbean flair and are a culinary journey for your taste buds. Papillon is open daily for dinner.

Added this to our dinner stop this year, and was extremely disappointed. Waited 10 minutes after being seated, and finally had to grab a busboy who was passing by our table to ask if we had a server. Wait staff appeared to be short handed, blamed the poor service on the computers being down earlier in the day??!? An hour and 45 minutes for appetizer and dinner. I will say that the meals were good once we got them. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, just not the aggravation.

We were curious how a new restauant could jump to number one so quickly. Now we know. Great food, great manager and great staff will do it every time. Papillon has moved on to my list of 2 or 3 best recommendations for my many friends that visit Aruba.

The quality of menu, food and winelist is good. The restaurant is located in a busy spot. The terrace is a little bit outdated. At first the staff was rather nervous trying to serve everybody as fast as possible. That improved during the course of the evening. Definitely a place worth a visit.

This was just great. From welcoming reception by the hostess to the great service by our waiter, and from our wonderful goat-cheese salad starter to our pineapple dessert.

We had a great wine recommended by our waiter (forgot his name) which paired good with our meal.

All the details were thought of and no effort was spared giving us the evening we were looking for.

We had some great meals on Aruba in our 12 years of vacationing to this place and Papillon is certainly one of them.

We went here on our last night in Aruba to celebrate our anniversary and engagement. The night started off great we were greeted by a lovely hostes and escorted to our table. In no time our waiter Raymond came over with the specials and and wine list.

We got the crab cakes to split which were amazing. Personally not a fan of crab cakes but those I could eat any time. After selecting our main dishes we waited for our wine. Unfortunately the one we selected was out but Raymond made a wonderful suggestion and we were back on track. The dishes came out my salt crusted sea bass was good with plenty of flavor but not overpowering. However, the star of the dinner was my fiancée grouper, seared to perfection and served with rice and a hash brow thing that was delicious.

We topped the night of with a brownie that was served to us with a sparkler to celebrate our special day. The staff took a picture and promised to send it to us via email.

Overall the experience was fantastic! We will be returning on our next trip to Aruba and highly reccomed you visit!

Very nice place. Smaller portions as expected from a French restaurant, including wine we ordered. Nice ambiance, but there are much nicer elsewhere on the island. Not much extra given here, but very good quality.

We have greatly enjoyed dining at Papillon during each our 3 annual visits to Aruba, and have found the food to be consistently wonderful. The rack of lamb is my favorite and the desserts are always excellent. Their food is on par with NYC restaurants; the atmosphere is charming and the staff knowledgeable and welcoming.
