Established in the historic old capital of Aruba, Savaneta, The Old Man & The Sea Restaurant is the ideal place for a romantic dinner.
The cuisine is a mixture of local dishes with an international flare. We pride ourselves on having fresh catches of the day and good quality meats imported from the best distributors in the world.

What a terrible experience. This is the worst restaurant in Aruba.
There were 4 of us for dinner. An email had been sent asking to seated by the water. When we arrived and mentioned this to the maitre d’ there was utter confusion on his face. We did not get the seating that we requested. The waitress then appeared and one of our party asked what type of wine do you have to which the answer was “white and red”. From that moment onwards we knew that we were in trouble. We placed our orders and it took approximately one hour to get the appetizers, all the while people who came in after us were getting their meal. After the appetizers it took 30 minutes to get the main meal. After the meal we asked for our bill, which did not come promptly as they were looking at someone else’s order and trying to figure if it was ours, to which we had to wait about 20 minuets. The waitress was not accommodating and when we complained to her, the answer was never satisfactory.
We were there for 2 and half hours and the restaurant was not busy at all. On the way out we complained to the maitre d’ and he seemed like he did not care.
There are much better restaurants on the island with better and friendly service.
We will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Amazing amazingly beautiful, the highlight of our trip. The place is very very romantic. All the details that went into this restaurant, from little pillows to candles, swinging palm trees to a beautiful restroom. Very personalized service. The private gazebo with an amazing sunset view. The food is exquisite. Oohh the wine list is very good, with good wines. The place is not crowded and very personal service.
We'll be back for sure!!

We went last evening to Old Man and the Sea. Originally had reservations for 6pm but since it was raining around 5pm we decided to cancel. We were so disappointed about the weather but ultimately changed our minds. Man were we glad that we did!!! This was by far the most outstanding restaurant we have ever been to. Because the weather was still a little iffy, they set us under a straw covered gazebo that fit one table perfectly. The staff provided impeccable service. They were all very friendly but not so friendly as to impose on our evening. The food was great as well. My wife had the shrimp cocktail which came with 6 large shrimp. I had the curried shrimp appetizer. Not too spicy but just perfect. For dinner she had a 3 lb lobster which was perfectly prepared. I had the papaya seared catch of the day which was snapper. It was great as well. We were there for our 10 year anniversary. They even went so far as to put a sparkler on the tiramisu for dessert which was a great touch. We were disappointed about not seeing the sunset but that certainly wasn't the restaurants fault. The biggest thing I would tell you is that even if it is raining (which I understand is rare in Aruba) DONT CANCEL!!! the restaurant will be even less crowded. You will still get a great meal at a beautiful restaurant. Strongly suggest the trip if you are looking for a very special place for dinner.

I was in aruba last month with my Girlfriend and have dined at several restaurants, but none came close to The Old Man And The Sea!! Wow, Spectacular views, Outstanding service, a Breath-Taking Environment, Incredibly Romantic and Peaceful Dining experience! A lot more privacy then Flying Fishbone! i've never been to a restaurant so beautiful before, and the fact that that the Food was so Amazing too was Astonishing. Because all the other restaurants i've been to either had "ok" food and looked nice, or just didn't feel like the authentic Aruban dining experience. I spoke to the owner and she said that they had just opened a few months ago. I wish them all the best and will definitely recommend my friends and family to go there in Aruba!

Wow, what a wonderful dining experience. There were four of us who dined there on Nov. 3. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, it was a first class restaurant. We chose to dine outside (took a chance not knowing the weather as we made reservations from Canada based on the reviews) Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Service was top notch from water to wine. The food was absolutely exquisite. I started with the scallops the rest of the crew had escargot to begin. The scallaps were among the best I have ever had and presentation superb. Our dinners ranged from Penne in Vodka sauce, Catch of the day (fresh grouper) in a macadamian crust, delicious, stir fry chicken and the big winner of the evening was a beautiful presentation of various seafood and fish in a light tomatoe sauce served on top of a light garlic tomatoe pasta. This dish offered a hefty serving of food, quite pricey but well worth every penny. We appreciate good bottle of wine which this restaurant was able to offer with a comprehensive wine list. The atmosphere is romantic and scenery breathtaking. Don't think twice about The Old Man of the Sea. Our only complaint is that we ran out of nights as it was well worth another visit. We highly recommend this and will go back next year.

This place was awesome. My husband and I shared a walnut and pear salad which we loved. We both had the catch of the day which was a fish called Brasil with a cream sauce on it. This was a new fish for us (had never heard of it before)and it was excellent. We both got the Kulua pecan cheesecake and it was very very good. We were seated at a table right by the water where Elbert waited on us hand and foot. The drinks and sunset were spectacular. This restaurant has only been open for 2-3 months and I see it being one of the top restaurants in Aruba. A must for everyone.

This wonderful restaurant was recommended to us by friends. Thank god they told us about it. Our daughter and her friend wanted to take us out for dinner and chose The Old Man and the Sea. What a beautiful romantic place to go. My daughter said she wants to get married there! Everything and I mean everything was perfect. We all had fish and it was cooked to perfection. Staff was extremely friendly, presentation was outstanding and the tables were not on top of each other. We will go there every year from now on. They have only been open since September 08 so go before they become famous!!!

This has to be the most romantic restaurant on the island. What a glorious evening was had (even though it was cloudy). From the moment we entered we were treated like old friends. Our waiter, Giavanni, was polite, well versed on the menu items and prep, and, oh, so friendly. He suggested a Chilean red wine to have with our dinner -that had to be one of the best wines I've ever tasted. Defintely a must every year.
