This was one of our best dining experiences during our recent 2 week trip. We had a 6:30 reservation to see the sunset and took a taxi. From the Renaissance it was $25 taxi each way. We had a lovely table waterside and the tables were spread out nicely. Was hoping to have a better view of the sunset, but was still a beautiful. Thought about reserving the gazebo. Cost is $100, but there were only 2 seatings 5:30 or 8 pm. Our server Andres was very helpful and picked out a nice wine to go with our meal. We started by trying the 2 escargot dishes. One was in a bed of garlic/herb angel hair pasta, the other stuffed in mushrooms. They were both excellent(Please keep them both!). Read great things about the Captains Concert? for 2 and it did not disappoint. Little bit of everything- fish, scallops, shrimp, lamb chops, a skewer of chicken and beef on top of mashed potatoes and mixed veggies on the side. It was excellent. We share a dessert of kahlua pecan cheesecake with cappuccinos for dessert. Prices were not out of line and can't wait to return next year!

Just returned from an 8 day stay in Aruba and would rank The Old Man & The Sea as one of the top 2 restaurants we visited while on the island. The ambiance is top-notch. Located directly on the beach and well-decorated, the restaurant is very inviting. Tables are far enough apart that you have privacy (unlike Flying Fishbone) while also having a gorgeous view of the ocean. Although the tables directly next to the water are for couples, other tables are also in great locations. Live music added the perfect touch - a combination of saxophone and flute. The food was superb. Our table enjoyed a grilled snapper catch of the day, the macadamia crusted mahi mahi, creole mahi mahi and maple salmon. All parties were very happy with the food although there was a slight complaint that the macadamia crusted mahi mahi was a bit dry. All appetizers were fantastic with the shrimp caprese being a huge hit. In my opinion, this restaurant is a MUST VISIT while in Aruba!

The most AMAZING resturant in Aruba!
The Old Man and the Sea is a MUST SEE during your stay in Aruba. It is the most romantic and beautiful resturant set right on the beach. The ambience is incredible. Bring your camera to witness one of the most breathtaking sunsets. The food was impecable and the service was amazing. I am planning to have my Rehearsal Dinner here during my next stay in Aruba when I get married. It is a GEMSTONE and worth the trip. It was the highlight of my whole vacation and nothing could compare to this memorable dining experience! Do not miss this place!

Recently spent eight days in Aruba. We didn't find out about the OM&S until our next to last night. What a shame. This was as good of meal as we have had in Aruba, and this was our seventh trip. I had the filet and my wife had the grouper. Both were excellet and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was fantastic. Didn't have a reservation but were seated directly on the water. The view was incredible. Rocky was out waiter and his menu suggestions from the food to the wine were spot on. OM&S has the most beautiful outdoor setting accompanied by a live saxophone and piano player. What more could you ask for. Definetly our new favorite restaurant. Can't wait til next year. Counting the days...

Overall it was a fantastic visit to this restaurant. We were a little hesitant when we first arrived because from the outside, you would not be able to tell this was such a nice restaurant...but don't let that fool you.
My husband and I arrived near sunset without reservations and were immediately seated right next to the water. Although you can not actually see the sun set due to the direction the restaurant the faces, the atmosphere more than makes up for it. It was the most beautiful setting I have ever dined in, and the food was very good. I can't say enough good things about the staff! They were AMAZING...every one of them. We were even serenaded late in the evening. It felt like a scene straight out of a romance movie.

We went to upscale dinners almost every night that we were in Aruba (Marandi, MJ's, Amazonia). This was our favorite dinner of the week. What a setting!!! I WOULD NOT MISS this restaurant while visiting Aruba. A group of six of us went our last night, and we wished that we had gone earlier in the week because we probably would have returned a second time before leaving the island. I cannot say enough good things about TOMATS: The service was superb. The food was amazing. The live music was wonderful!! It was a nice and relaxing dinner. No one in our group could figure out why there is not more buzz about this restaurant. I have a feeling that by time I make it back to Aruba, dinner reservations will have to be made well in advance for this place. FYI: Just about every waterside table is for a party of two. However, in my opinion, a lot of the nicer tables are not waterside. Do not worry about making a reservation in time for sunset because even though the tables are on the beach, the location is such that you cannot view the sunset. In my opinion, this would be an ideal place for a marriage proposal.

Our kids gave us a gift certificate here for our trip and it was a great choice!

the atmosphere is very romantic..We believe even better than the Flying Fisbones, which we have loved..

Rockie did a great job in taking care of us and his recommendation of the Catch of the Day(Grouper)grilled with the local papaya hot sauce was outstanding!!

we will definitely be back again..

We went to this restaurant for our last night in Aruba. We had been to several restaurants that were just ok so we were looking for an experience and we picked just the right place! The atmosphere was phenomenal, they didn't rush us, we were there early and we laid on huge pillows to watch the sunset and then we were led to a beautiful table on the beach, they had our favorite wine which was a big surprise. The waiters were wonderful, the food was fabulous. It was a superb choice, we will definitely go back to this restaurant over and over again.
