"Elegant dining in flipflops"

Located at the beach near the airport at the roundabout. Owner Gerco (chef) and Luc (Maitre d') have created a unique dining experience where you can enjoy the best Aruba has to offer: a great view of the ocean and sunset, experienced and friendly staff and high quality food.
Ideal for special occasions or just a wonderful night out!

When we were in Aruba in 2006, Mirandi was in this location. We knew that Mirandi was moving, so when we booked our dinners for this time in Aruba, we asked if there was another restaurant that went into this location and we so pleased when we found out there was...Barefoot! Not much is different than Mirandi regarding the environment. I think the decoration and furniture has a more modern feel now. The whole experience was fantastic! We chose to eat inside vs on the beach because of mosquitos and a storm on the horizon (we ate at Mirandi the night before and it rained so much we had to move inside and deal with a wet Jeep since we left the top down..it NEVER rains in Aruba, right? haha). From the time we sat down, we had great service! Some old mosquito bites were itching along with a couple of new ones and the manager went and got some OFF for me to put on my legs. Our food was incredible, delicious seafood, salads, and appetizers! The best part was our dessert, which was chocolate mousse with ice cream--probably the best dessert we had while on the island!! The lighting was low, the restaurant is so small that it never feels crowded because they can only sit a few people under the hut, making it a very romantic dining experience. I can imaging it would be very cool at sunset, but we ate late so we could enjoy happy hour and sunset on the beach at our hotel. Initially we were sad that Mirandi moved from this location, but Barefoot filled their shoes wonderfully!! We can't wait to go back to Aruba--this is definitely one we are adding to our list!

We dined at Barefoot on a recommendation from our concierge - it was great - we celebrated our friend's 20th wedding anniversary and the staff went over and above the call of duty - from Luke to Claudia to the wait staff - they were all great - the food was excellent and well presented - ambiance was fantastic - we can't wait to go back in February when we return to Aruba -

The atmosphere is beautiful - and they even have a couple of tables right on the beach if you prefer to be away from the main restaurant and dine by torches and moonlight.

I dined here with 3 friends who all loved their entrees. I, however, loved my Greek salad (I also had some bites of the other appetizers and all were great) but did not care so much for my "grouper with the mango cream cheese with a light spicy mango sauce". I chalked it up to just "ordering badly" which sometimes happens. It wasn't that it wasn't good or cooked properly but the cream cheese was (in my opinion) WAY too heavy for a grouper and I never tasted anything "spicy". It was just okay and I ended up scraping the sauce off of the fish. Again, could just be my own taste - not into the heavy sauces so I think I just ordered poorly. I would still go back and try a fish with a lighter sauce or just ask if it could be grilled with some lemon instead.

The appetizers that I sampled from my friend's plates were all excellent.

Everyone needs to put this restaurant on their list for their next trip to Aruba! The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is perfect. Don't waste your time driving all the way to Flying Fishbone when you can go to Barefoot! Guests have the option of sitting at tables in the sand or "inside" under the giant palapa. Even if you choose to sit under the palapa, everyone still gets great views of the water and can hear the waves gently coming on shore as you eat.

This restaurant was recently opened by the former chef and manager from Marandi restaurant. The menu is fantastic. Goat Cheese salad is top notch, seafood, tenderloin, duck, etc...are all delicious.

Very unassuming location by the roundabout between downtown Oranjestad and the Airport. A bit tough to find for your first trip but once you're there, it's beautiful. "Elegant Dining in Flipflops" is the motto and very appropriate.

Reasonable prices and atmosphere unlike anything you'll get on the High Rise strip. Definitely make sure to include Barefoot on your next trip to the island!!
