Dined on 12/16/2012 and had a wonderful time

Dec 16, 2012 - posted by
we were coming back from the baby beach and didn't have reservations.

however the manager was more then helpful and we were seated within a few moments of arrival.

the table that was chosen for us couldn't be more perfect.
it was just steps away from the water on the nikky beach and my 5 year old son was extremely happy.

i ordered the specials(surf and turf, grouper and shrimp and banana tiramisu), my husband had brocutto with melon, rack of lamb and the grand desert. I also got a kids portion of pasta for my son(they have kids menu!!!)

The server was quite helpful and fast. But the best part was the food. Our huge complements the the chef. The food was unbelievable and the portions were perfect. My 5 year old is extremely picky eater. But the groupper that i shared with him was just melting in the mouth and he ate most of it. Even the pasta was perfect.

the host and the waters were very attentive.

and when i thought it doesn't get any better the desert came. I can't describe it with words it was just really great. You need to try it to see what i mean.

to sum up: this is a little place in heaven where the perfect weather is combined with the awesome set up right on the beach with no dress code and with quite exquisite food.

I highly recommend visiting Barefoot restaurant.
we will be in Aruba for a few more days and we are definitely coming back.

Once again, Barefoot did not disappoint!!!! We were so excited to frequent the restaurant again and when we did, it exceeded all of our expectations!!! Our favorite restaurant on the island!!! As usual, Claudia was so warm and welcoming - you felt like you were having dinner at a family member's home! Can't wait to return in February with our friends!

Romantic dinner for two on the beach!

Oct 23, 2012 - posted by
Our last night in Aruba and we wanted it to be great! So we tried this spot, it was easy to drive to from the Marriott about 15 mins away near the airport round about. But it was far enought away to whisk you away from the strip and give you a special setting on the beach. Food was great. I had the scallop app and my hubby had the escargot and mushrooms. My only complaint is that they only give you two pieces of bread, and with all that yummy sauce we could have used another one to sop it all up. I had the filet mignonette with truffle. I will say there was a lack of truffle, and the sauce was more of a Marsala mushroom sauce but nonetheless the dish was delicious. My husband had the pepper tuna served rare and it was delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. Dessert we had the lets go nuts iced cream. It was not the best at all. Average- I should have tried something else. It just tasted very generic and super sweet. Nothing fancy or homemade to it. But again it was not bad, I am just a bit picky with my iced cream especially pistachio flavor. Overall it was great earring with your feet in the sand overlooking the ocean. Service was great and I would say the prices were fair. On our next trip down I would definitely return to this spot for a sunset dinner perhaps??

Some Enchanted Evening

Oct 22, 2012 - posted by
We've probably eaten at Barefoot a half dozen times or more since they opened two years ago. We're happy to report that they are better than ever. The occassion for our last visit to Aruba in September was for our honeymoon as we had gotten married in June 2012. Barefoot is such a romantic setting that it's like floating on a cloud. Words can't describe how the combination of their location on the beach, the beautiful palapa and table settings combine with the world class menu and top notch service we have come to expect. At our last visit I ordered vanilla skewered scallops as an appetizer and for my entree Romance of the Sea, which is a fish trio comprised of mahi mahi, grouper and snapper servered with a vanilla saffron sauce. My husband, Dan, had the combination of tuna tartar and tuna carpaccio as an entree followed by the grilled mahi mahi with a fresh fruit salsa. Both were exceptional. For dessert, we finished with a coffe creme brule and a selection of ice creams hazelnuts, pistacchios and walnuts served with a caramel sauce. Barefoot is not to be missed if you go to Aruba. If you are staying in the high rise section, take a cab or car ride to it and see how quiet and restful a dining experience can be. Places like Barefoot are rare in any country and we're sure we'll return again and again. Thank you Luc and Gercko for a truly memorable night.

We first tried Barefoot last year & loved it. DW had the grouper & shrimp special with a creamy
Truffle sauce and I had the special mixed grill, which included pork loin, chicken breast, and
a petit filet mignon in a thyme sauce. We both loved the dinners & dining on the beach. Amount
for the dinners, 2 drinks, 2 glasses of wine, plus tip came to $109.35.

Wonderful experience

We visited this restaurant for the first time a couple weeks ago and we were blown away by the service and the quality of the food. The presentation was beautiful. Had chicken that came in a pineapple. Just beautiful and delicious. All four of us couldn't say enough about how good it tasted. We topped it off by sharing a great desert. Sitting in the sand was unique and different. Will go back again next year.

Sand flies eating us

Sep 11, 2012 - posted by
We tried this restaurant for the first time last year. We hit it on a bad day as their water line had been ruptured. They apologized and we stayed. The food was excellent! As the floor inside is sand ( where we dined), we were eaten alive by sand flies. We were all scratching horribly. They could not make coffee, no water and using the bathroom required pouring water into the commode. Unless they can deal with the sand flies, we won't go back despite excellent food.

Not as good as we would have liked

Aug 25, 2012 - posted by
Had dinner at 6:30pm. Should have waited till dark but wanted to watch the sunset. The restaurant is on a public beach with kids running around and making a lot of noise (set back the romantic setting)

I had the Romance of the Sea with the sauce on the side (didn’t like the sauce). Fish was just ok.

Wife had the Tuna Pepper Steak. She said the fish good but not great.

Maybe it was an off night or we set our expectations way to high. Service was good but food was not as good as the reviews we read about this place.

Lovely setting for a great meal

If you are looking for a lovely view of the sunset while dipping your toes in the soft Aruba sand, this is the place. This Dutch gem is a delight! The servers are terrific and very accommodating, especially when it comes to requests for sunset photos. The food is always extraordinary. My chicken and pineapple this year was a feast for the eyes and palate, while the others in my group said their mahi mahi was just as sensational. The desserts were just as beautifully presented and delicious. We had the Grand Dessert, an assortment of desserts to sample and share, while our friends chose the banana tiramisu; everyone raved and all plates were spotlessly clean! The service was unhurried and we were able to linger and chat as long as we liked. This restaurant is not to be missed.
