El Gaucho
El Gaucho is located in an old townhouse at 80 Wilhelminastreet, it's the first Argentine restaurant to open it's doors in Aruba on February 17, 1977.

El Gaucho Restaurant serves a variety of tempting dishes, featuring quality Argentine steaks, tender and juicy, charcoal-grilled to perfection, such as the famous Gaucho steak, 16 oz sirloin, Pincho Torro Caliente (the biggest shishkebab ever served) T-bone steak, vealchop and more. While many restaurants are currently serving Churrasco steak, we must say that our version is the original and still the very best.

Best steak and steakhouse on the island. And I have tried them all. Hasn't disappointed in 10+ years.

Wanted a steak night, but didn’t want traditional American setting (i.e., Ruth’s Chris). Selected EG for more of a Latin American flavor. While food was good and service was ok, I probably would not repeat. Among items of note: Appetizers: blood sausage and chorizo sausage plate was different and very flavorful; as was cream of broccoli soup and individual mini garlic loaves they serve. Rib eye and T-bone were both tasty and flavorful. Desserts were nothing special.

Went to El Gaucho based on a friend's recommendation and was not disappointed. The tenderloin was cooked to our specifications and were tender and tasty. The chimmichurri sauce was excellent. The sides and the sangria were also very good. The service was wonderful. We had eaten early before the rush so it was not very busy at that time.

We went to El Gaucho looking for a good steak and after reading some reviews seemed like a good choice.

I was disappointed with the meal. I had the t-bone and it really was very bland. My wife had the tenderloin and it was very chewy, too much. The sides were ok, in that some were good, some were bad. The two different potatoes we ordered were the same thing, once just mashed up a bit to make it look different, when it was described as a different potato all together.

The atmosphere has great potential and when we arrived (6:30) it was quite and the decor is very nice, but halfway through out meal it got very noisy and busy. Mainly families brought kids and it reminded me of a busy fast food joint. The ambiance quickly died, most customers sit in one large room that has acoustics that seems to amplify the sound.

The service was great in the beginning, the waiter was pleasant but as it got busier, less service and at the end the manager came over and gave us the hint that they wanted us out.

Second most expensive meal we had and the second worst. We had better steak elsewhere for better price

Had dinner here our second night in Aruba. We had some decent sangria - a little oversweetened.

Everyones food was OK - but not as good as I expected. I ordered a trio of Steak, Pork and Sausage on a skewer. I ordered the steak medium and it came as ordered, the problem was the pork and the sausage were also "medium". I would never order an uncooked sausage. The waiter took the pork and the sausage and had it recooked. It was pretty tasty - but not exactly what I had hoped for. The restaurant is lovely - and the guitar/singers roaming around were great!

Fantastic as always. We like to eat early so as to avoid the rush and El Gaucho is perfect for this. I had the Gaucho steak and my wife had the petite. Both cooked to a perfect medium rare. Side dishes were cooked to perfection and evetrything tasted heavenly. Large portions that allowed me to have lunch the next day. Wine was great and took the bottle with us. Service was outstanding and we were able to have a delightful short conversation with our waiter who spoke better english than I do. And he spoke four languages. LOL The benefit of going early is there are less people and fewer kids that can sometimes be running around. Can't wait until next year.

This place really disappointed us, everyone said to go here and despite not being the hugest fan of steak we did, the food was just OK, atmosphere nothing special, the lounge across the street, Garufa, is very cool, but nothing great about Gaucho for me, kind of bummed we went here and missed out on other places.

The Gaucho Steak never disappoints! Cooked to perfection and nice and tender as always (and plenty leftover for sandwiches the next day.) Split a couple of pitchers of the red sangria (good as always). Service was also very good - when we saw a booth open up near our table before we ordered we asked if we could be moved and they had no problem moving us whatsoever.

My wife and I are avid steak lovers who are usually very disappointed in the quality of beef we get when on island vacations. It usually never compares with good US steakhouses. We loved El Gaucho. Service was excellent. More importantly, the beef held up to our close scrutiny. My wife had the 12 oz filet and I had the 16 oz boneless rib eye. Both were superb. Bread and sides were also very good. When we return to Aruba, this is a definite stop for us. We actually came close to going twice during this trip.
