Gasparito
Gasparito... The name of the area where we are located and the name
of our Restaurant-Art Gallery. In the past, areas and properties were named after
the families who owned the land. Our ancestors were Arawak Indians and Europeans,
therefore the areas on the Island have distinct Indian and European names.

Pretty authentic Aruban food. Had the Barracuda ravioli for an appetizer, a shrimp salad, goat stew and local caught Wahoo in a garlic sauce which seemed overbearing and too strong for this fish. Everything was good, especially the goat stew, really! We sat outdoors, which was a romantic setting. Inside of restaurant is nice too with paintings and art by local artists. Outdoors is nicer. Service was good too. So many good restaurants on this island, might try Papiamento instead of this one the next time. Heard very good things about that place but did not have the chance to go.

What a treasure! If we could give a rating higher than ten we would do so. From the authentic Aruban food (where else in the world will you find barracuda ravioli?) to the gracious services (including hands-on ownership and attention to every detail), this is a must dining experience. Don't let the approach to the location bother you, as it is a bit off the beaten path. Once inside, you will be rewarded with a gracious atmosphere, friendly staff, and most of all, extraordinary food. The creamy seafood was wonderful as was the Aruban Platter with three different preparations. You must have the ravioli. Without question, this was our best dining experience on the island and one of our best vacation dining experiences anywhere in the Carribean.

On 11/30/04 we were fortunate enough to be on a cruise that we didn't have to be back to the ship until after midnight. Since Gasparito is our all time favourite in Aruba, we made internet reservations well in advance for dinner -- for our son, ourselves and for another son and daughter in law who were staying on the island. As usual, the meals were outstanding, the service superb and despite 5 entrees, 7 appitizers wine and far too many Balashi beers, the tab was still a reasonable $247. This is a very special dining experience.

What a wonderful restaurant! The atmosphere is charming, the staff attentive and the food divine. Started with the Shrimp cocktail -- very tasty. I had the Keshi Yena, which was to die for. Hubby had the filet which was quite good and had a wonderful sauce, but he tasted my Keshi Yena and declared that we would have to come back so he could get that as well. We had banana na forno for dessert – excellent.

Of all the restaurants where we dined, including the AAA Four Diamond Sunset Grill, Gasparito is the only restaurant that has no equal in Chicago or anywhere else for that matter. It is a truly unique and very romantic dining experience. If you're looking for authentic Aruban dining, this is the place.

The art at Garparito is by various artists, and they are true to the heart. Each art seems to have it's own soul. You won't see any Rambrandt or Van Gogh copycats.

The food is excellent. It is a unique blend of Dutch and Caribbean flavors. The fresh seafood rivals the best restaurants in Hawaii or North Carolina.

Gasparito's is a find. The coconut shrimp appetizer was the best we ever had. The gasparito chicken was a unique presentation, deliciously prepared with side dishes of a distinctive quality not found anywhere else we have dined in aruba. The staff is attentive and friendly. Do not be fooled by the off street location, this place is in a class by itself. Our taxi driver recommended Gasparito's and was right on the money.

Of all of the Restaurants we visited while in Aruba, this was rated at the top of our list! The atmosphere is convivial and quiet. The wait staff was most attentive. The food, well the food was the best of all of the nine restaurants we tried. The Keshi Yena was suggested and is a must for all who want to try the local fare...just a treat for the taste buds. THe goat stew was exceptional as well,if you can get past the initial thought of it.
