The food is very good at Gianni's and the service was great! The menu is very overwhelming and everything sounds so delicious. I had the cheese wheel (spaghetti with melted cheese, whiskey, tomato) and it was so delicious but so filling! For appetizers, we had the baked clams, which was actually one monstrous clam oreganata and I was very happy with it. Lots of garlic and flavor and the mussels in white wine sauce were great! Gianni's did not disappoint.

Just for the atmosphere it is worth the trip.Food was good.Same issues that I have read from previous guests.Difficult to read the bill, they chiiled the red wine, even put in a bucket of ice.Do not be in a rush as this will be your night, which was fine with us.

Our dinner here was very good. The special buffalo mozzarella appetizer was creamy & delicious but pricey at $20. Gnocchi was ok. The pasta with porcini mushrooms in a cream sauce was excellent. Profiteroles for dessert was good but a little small. We sat outside which was comfortable but a little buggy. Service was just ok. Our waiter never came to check how our meal was. If you're craving Italian, Gianni's is worth trying.

Sun 06/21 (Fathers Day) – Gianni’s
My Special Clams Casino appetizer was very disappointing – one large clam shell filled with breading – couldn’t find a single clam. My Veal scallopine with whiskey sauce was really turkey – I’m Italian (born in Italy & my parents owned a restaurant) and can tell the difference between turkey and veal – I’ve experienced this in some places in NY as well. Wife, daughter, & daughter's friend friend all liked their dishes. Plan was for me to order a steak from Daniel’s menu, but since I had a great steak at Chalet Suisse the night before – decided on a veal dish. Another complaint was when they brought the check, it was like an adding machine tape – just prices without any descriptions. Definitely will not be going back.

CAME TO ARUBA 15 YEARS AGO AND FOUND GIANNI'S IN TOWN, AT THE TIME IT WAS WONDERFUL, SMALL AND PERSONAL... CAME BACK RECENTLY AS LAST WEEK, AND FOUND GIANNI'S AGAIN, VERY BIG,BRIGHT, AND THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS AWFUL!! IT NOW SITS 300, FOR NO GOOD REASON, I PURCHASED BOTTLE WATER, ONLY FOR THE SERVER TO POUR REGULAR WATER INTO MY GLASS THAT HAD BOTTLED WATER IN IT. I ORDERED,FRESH MOZZARELLA AND PROSICUTTO, ONLY TO RECEIVE THE PROSICUTTO IN ANOTHER PLATE BECAUSE THE SALAD GUY IN THE KITCHEN FORGOT THE PROSICUTTO,THE SERVER SAID.,MY DAUGHTER AND I HAD THEIR SPECIAL, SPAGHETTI, WITH PARM CHEESE AND WHISKEY AND TOMATOE,(WHY WAS WHISKEY ADDED TO THIS DISH IS BEYOND ME) IT WAS SO BAD, MY DAUGHTER REFUSED TO EAT IT, AND I SPENT THE REST OF MY EVENING IN THE MEN'S ROOM.THE MGR WHO WAS DUTCH WAS THE BEST PART OF MY MEAL,
TO MANY SERVERS, ONE SERVER FOR WATER, ONE SERVER FOR MY MEAL, ONE BRINGING MY MEAL, ANOTHE DIFFERENT ONE BRINGING DESSERT, AND THEN ANOTHER BRINGING THE CHECK! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIS PAYROLL, BECAUSE ON THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT 8PM, HE ONLY HAD MAYBE 100 PEOPLE IN THE PLACE AND ABOUT 20 WORKERS HANGIN BY THE KITCHEN WINDOW DOING NOTHING!!!! BUT LIKE THEY SAY, THE SON CAN NEVER BE THE FATHER IN THIS CASE!!! WISH THE OLD GIANNI'S WAS STILL AROUND....THIS REVIEW FROM SOMEONE WHO OWNED AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN NEW YORK FOR YEARS...

From the outside this place looks great, but the service and food was horrible. It took over 23 minutes to get our drinks, we got our appetizers before our drinks and only seconds from when we got our food. There are a lot of great restaurants in Aruba, don't waste your time on this one.

This was always one of our favortie places to eat in Aruba. Well - last week we had a horrible experience there. When our entree arrived - it was swarming with about a dozen flies! HORRIBLE! They hurredly moved us indoors but a few of the flies came along anyway. We had to swat our way thru dinner! GROSS! And they offered a free dessert which we didn;t want and never made ANY adjustment to the bill for the embarassment and disgust we experienced. We will probably never go back there. These flies seemed to follow the wiater form the kitchen right to our table. I wonder what goes on in that kitchen! Going back to Aruba in the winter - will be looking for another Italian restaurant. BTW - I have found a few other posting on line about the fly problem there.

We chose this restaurant just from walking by. It looked crowded and that people were having a good time. The outdoor seating was nice b/c you could see the water displays at the hotels across the way. It took a very long time to get service at our table, which was what gave this the poorest rating. Our waitress was definitely in no rush and we were starving. So, throughout dinner that is what ruined it the most. Food was good, but nothing too special. The waitress was not very knowledgeable of menu. There was a manager walking around to see if things were okay, but he tended to ask at the end of the meal and at that point there seemed no reason to complain. Prices were on the high side for the quality of the food and for what it was (shrimp scampi $27 or so). Service, not so great, ambiance was good, toilets were very clean they even had an attendant, desert was pretty good and selection for desert was very good. Unfortunately, they don't have the service to match. I would probably decide to try somewhere else for Italian rather than going back since we had much better service at other restaurants during our stay.

Went to the restaurant on a Friday night and could not have been more pleased with the level of quality in both the service and the food. After reading some prior reviews, I had some hesitations, but found them to be unfounded in my experience.

The food was superb from top to bottom, and this is coming from someone who has no shortage of locally owned historic Italian food institutions. The use of freshly available ingredients is really noticeable and appreciated. If anything, the menu may be too large, as it was very difficult to choose, and I could see a busy evening causing some problems due to the amount of food being created.

The service was very good. We were waited on by three different individuals, who kept our meal at a very efficient but not overbearing pace. When our food was finished, they cleared plates, and the next course was there very promptly. Even dessert, which we have found seems to be the biggest delay in Aruba was brought out very efficiently.

One other clarification from an earlier post that I saw. The red wine is not served chilled - it is stored at approximately 65 degrees. The second that it hits the warm, moist air of Aruba, it does get condensation on the bottle. It also gets to "room" temperature of 70ish extremely quickly. Storing at the lower climate controlled temperature helps promote efficient aging of wine, as well as preventing rotting of the cork. I actually appreciated the attention to detail that this creates versus some of the wine that I had that was obviously stored extremely roughly at other establishments.

Finally, the management were very nice, even stopping by to chat for a little while. I would definitely return.

My husband, myself and 2 other friends went to Gianni's last Oct.2008. What a very pleasant surprise, as we stayed in the Radisson and merely had to walk across the street to get here. Although we were reluctant to sit on outside (main street-side), how quickly we forgot that the street was so close, as the food, service and atmosphere was wonderful - top notch. Bravo! We will be back Oct 2009 for sure.
