Master Chef/Owner Vittorio Muscariello is already well known for having worked for more than eleven years as Executive Chef in the best authentic and original Italian restaurants on Aruba (Valentino's 1988-1994 and La Trattoria el Faro Blanco 1994-1999).

A couple of nights ago, we too decided to dine here despite trepidations due to recent reviews.
It has been very windy during our stay, so we chose to eat indoors (if I brought young children I'd opt for outdoor seating; the noise level was low inside and kids just aren't always able to adjust their voice to their surroundings (what kid wants to be shushed all the time anyway? that's no fun)).
The kitchen is open and the meat is on display in a chill case. Their kitchen was clean, orderly, and running fast and smooth. I mention this all because I find those points generally tell me I can look forward to a great meal.
My husband and I were not disappointed. He had beautifully cooked baby lamb chops and I had delightfully flavorful bucatini all' amatriciana.
Service was professional and timely overall.
A person might detect some seemingly, thinly constrained condescension (maybe more noticable because of the incongruity in appearance (we barely give a second thought to certain behaviours if a person looks the part)), but I am only interested in execution of food and service done well; in our case it was.
We both left the restaurant telling each other, "that was really good!"
We'll definitely be back, next trip to Aruba.

“Great as usual”

It was with apprehension that we went to dinner tonight after the recent negative posts. This is a restaurant we frequent every year we are here. We must state that as usual, the staff was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. The meal was delicious, preparation and presentation was flawless! We will continue to recommend this restaurant to our friends and others.

“BIG DISAPPOINTMENT / NAZI INSULT”

My husband and I have been visiting Aruba since 1998 which is prior to the opening of this restaurant. We remember the service and the food being much better.
We made our reservations online and dined inside just a few nights ago.
We were greeted and seated in front of the kitchen.
The server, a tall, bleached blond young man finally came to our table and asked us, "Are you ready?" No good evening, welcome to the restaurant, just very curt.
The salad I ordered was very bland, no taste as the only dressing offered was olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
After adding parmesan and salt and pepper and eating my salad, the server, who was right to the side of our table (Mind you we were right in front of the kitchen) raised his arm and blurted out "HEIL HITLER!"
I lost my appetite and wanted to VOMIT!
I wanted to get up and leave, but not wanting to cause a scene, my husband, daughter and I finished our meals and left. He did notify the owner and manager who appeared horrified. They must do something about this server!!
All I can say is that we will NEVER be back and that they have lost very loyal customers who visit Aruba every year.

“Just ok”

Hadn't been to Hostaria in many years because the food that gone downhill but went back last year and really enjoyed it. This year, not so much.
Service was difficult. The first girl we had barely spoke English which is very unusual in Aruba. We tried to start with cocktails, Kettle One on the rocks and she couldn't understand a word we were saying. We spelled it out for her and another server told us that she thought we wanted Kendall Jackson. Really? So then we got a new server who didn't seem happy.
The food this year also got mixed reviews from our group. Appetizers were good. Prosciutto and burrata platter, Cesar salads and artichoke and olive hot appetizer were all good. Chicken parm, veal osso bucco and Fusilli Bolognese were all good. Veal scallopini with mushrooms, pasta special fettuccini with tomato sauce and ricotta cheese were just passable. Portions are huge and prices are reasonable. Up in the air if we will go again next year with so many other great restaurants on the island....Might just skip it.

“Awful experience”

Had an awful experience! Waited 1 hour for appetizers. Was told the eggplant took 20 minutes, well we waited 1 hour. Refused to serve the other appetizers. The manager has no people skills. All he kept on saying was what do u want me to do?? I told him he should not take reservations if the kitchen can't handle it. We could of offered us a glass of wine or dessert. He just didn't care that we were not happy. We weren't the only ones complaining. Not too many tables were happy. Too bad they can't get there act together because the food is good. We were so upset it was almost impossible to enjoy our meals.

“Horrible service and attitude”

dinner last night was a very unpleasant experience.Our basic dinner took over two hours. the Attitude of the owner and especially the waiter Riccardo was a disgrace. Riccardo snapped at one of us for as he was taking the order, I changed the spaghetti alle vongole to linguini, and the respond was YOU already ordered.. the minute we sat down we ordered the focaccia to go with our appetizers which never came because he said they were too busy,. we had a straight view of the pizza oven and saw very few pizzas or focaccia coming out. we then asked 3 times for the bread basket to two different waiters.Riccardo never asked if our food was OK. we asked for the bill and waited 20 minutes for the receipt and credit card. we had a 10% discount card from the Marriott hotel , We did not see the 10% discount and the owner responded CAN you read. And ultimately confused us into thinking he had deducted it, but the final bill did not show. How can an owner tell a costumer Can YOU Read and still not give you the discount. I would tell all of you in Aruba. Stay away from Hosteria Vittori.

“Worst Family Dining Experience on the Island”

This restaurant is NOT family friendly. Plain and simple, went here with my family last night and was told by another patron from across the dining room that she "expletive" hates kids. Being that we had a child in our group, we found that very offensive. The manager did nothing about and asked US to changes tables. Did not once approach the woman who made the comment. We left and will NEVER go back.

“Auténtica comida italiana”

Tengo muchos años visitando la isla seguidamente y es fascinante ver su desarrollo en la mejora de su oferta gastronómica . Entre estos servicios la cantidad de restaurantes italianos que han abierto sus puertas, los cuales he tenido oportunidad de probar. Sin embargo considero que la historia da victorio es el único restaurante de auténtica comida italiana, sus sabores, sus aromas me hacen sentir como en Italia .

“Not that impressed....again!”

We haven't been to Hostario for about 5 years as our last 2 visits weren't that great. Following the reviews, we decided not waste a "dinner" there. With no dinner plans, we were wandering around the high rise district and decided to go in and give it another try. Hmm...my lasagna didn't taste that wonderful and I couldn't finish it. It had an odd flavour to it. My spouse has spaghetti and found it "ok". Nothing special so back to our favourite Italian restaurant in Aruba...ANNA MARIA'S!
