This was the final restaurant we dined at in Aruba. Came from the Marriott, so it was about a 10-15 minute cab ride, but well worth it! Porterhouse was great; my girlfriend had surf and turf and liked it very much. Had a bottle of White Zinfandel....Caesar salad was good, forgot to ask no anchovies, my girlfriend had shrimp cocktail, she liked it- not loved it. We split 2 desserts----mango crumb cake with a la mode and crème bruelee, both very good..Fairly priced for a steakhouse...great service and the decor was magnificent- gives a south beach (Miami) vibe, very pretty. Wouldn’t recommend bringing the kids here, you can, but more of a couple place....and just to add- by far the most creative bathrooms I’ve seen…would definitely return.

Completely different than L'Escale! The contemporary styling was a pleasant surprise! Had a nice table by the window with a view of the water. Steak and rack of lamb were good size portions and cooked to perfection with your choice of sauces. Nice selection of wines. No complaints and would definitely return.

We purchased a gift certificate for two from a Marriott website. Cost of the certificate was $90.00 for two five course dinners at a restuarant on Marriott property. The restaurant overlooked the harbor with the ships in port. For iur dinner we selected shrimp cocktails followed by great Caesar Salads. Evelyn selected the 12 ounce Filet Mignon and I the Filet Mignon Lobster Tail Combination. The steaks were excellent and the plates were nicely garnished. Dinners were ala carte so we split a side of steak fries. We had a choice of non-akcholic beverages and selected Diet Cokes with refills. For dessert we both selcted the famous Creme Brulee. Service was top notch. If ordered without the certificate the bill would have come to 140.00. The service charge was included when purchasing the certificate.

We visited this restaurant on a recommendation from a couple who have only been to Aruba once. They said it was terrific.Well what a DISASTER! Martinis were two thirds of the way full.Wine servings were measured right to the drop.Rack of Lamb (only 5 ribs) should be renamed "RACK OF FAT".When we mentioned this to the waiter he told us that this was the way they come,Yea right! No apology whatsoever. My wife's filet came out welldone she ordered it medium. We will NEVER return to this place again.

On October 10th we visited this restaurant which was recommended by our hotel, the Marriott, because it was in the same hotel as the cabaret show we were seeing. The food was fair compared to other restaurants we visited on the island. My biggest complaint about L'Escale was upon presentation of the bill we noticed a 15% service charge. When I asked the waiter if this was the gratuity, he informed me it was not, that it was a charge for "bus people, breakage, etc."
Reluctantly, we added another 15% to bill. It bothered me all nite and I checked with the consierge when we arrived back at the hotel and sure enough, we had been ripped off. The service charge is indeed a tip. Don't be fooled - a service charge is a tip.

L’Escale is the fine dining restaurant for the Renaissance Hotel in Oranjestad, and all of the tables are inside. They are located upstairs, next to the Crystal Casino. We went to L’Escale twice during our stay, and had their Sunday Brunch both times. We’ve tried the Sunday Brunch at the Hyatt in the past, but prefer the food and atmosphere at L’Escale. We missed having Janos Sandur providing wonderful music on his violin, but the food and service remained top notch. I believe the price is now $29.95 per person, plus the 15% service charge, but it is a bargain at that price (similar brunches are much more at home). You get unlimited champagne and fresh orange juice during the brunch, and coffee or tea whenever you’d like it. We like to go at 10:00 am when they first open, as it gives us the rest of the day to relax on the beach or at the pool. Our favorite area is their seafood table. They have large silver tureens filled with cracked ice. In the first tureen is poached mussels. The second tureen contains jumbo cocktail shrimp. You have to peel them yourself, but you can take as many as you want. The third tureen contains fresh oysters on the half shell. After the tureens they have a display of different kinds of herrings, smoked fish, caviar (with all the accompaniments), and smoked salmon (cream cheese and bagels are available). Another area has all kinds of salads, including freshly tossed Caesar salad. They have a pasta station, a carving station, and an area for kids. The kids’ section has hot dogs, warm ham and cheese sandwiches, chicken fingers, fish fingers, and pizza, and many adults stop here to indulge. You then enter the kitchen for food cooked to order. They have sample plates with different items, but will work with you to make sure you get what you want. You can get eggs done any way, omelets with your choice of filling, eggs benedict, eggs tenderloin (like eggs benedict, but with steak instead of Canadian bacon), quiche, fish, breakfast steak, ham, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, Belgian waffles, etc. The have a long dessert table with fresh fruit, cheeses, Danish, cookies, cakes, pies, flan, crème brulée, Jell-O, etc. They also have an area with Hagen Daaz vanilla ice cream, which you can have plain, or topped with your choice of Cherries Jubilee or Tropical Fruit. This will probably be the only meal you eat that day. If you eat early like we do, you might want a snack later at night, but won’t want a full meal.
