Madame Janette

We have been coming to Madam Janette's, for the past 10 years. Their Food and Service has always been excellent. This is truly a terrific restaurant, my only
complaint (if you want to call it that), is they used to serve a crepe Mushroom appetizer, that was out of this world, and they no longer have it on the menu.

We will continue to go to Madam Janette's, every time we are in Aruba, We have been coming to this Fabulous Island now for 20 years. I highly recommend this
Restaurant.

We ate here twice, once on Christmas Eve and again a week later. The first time was with a group of 8 people. All the food came out together, although I would have preferred the food to be hotter. The plates weren't heated, which would have helped. Still, it was Christmas Eve and the place was full and the food was great. Almond Grouper and
rack of lamb where great! You can share one order of almond grouper. We each got our own and took the remains home for lunch the next day. Service was friendly and efficient - no mistakes.

Second visit was a party of 4. This time the plates were really hot, so the food came out really hot. Tried the Shrimp with Tai sauce and it was great! Also too big to finish, so I took it back for lunch the next day. The place was full, so don't know why we had no hot plates the week before. It's really helpful to insure the food shows up hot.

Still, the food was so great, that it's still worthy of a 10. Hey manager guy: work on those hot serving plates.

Demographic: We're picky New Yorkers. We know what good food and service should be. We were very happy with both.

We typically visit Aruba twice a year. We have to visit Mme Janette's at least twice during each visit. From the fabulous food to the consistently fabulous service we receive, especially from Janice, our personal favorite , our experience is always perfect. We enjoy our visits and leave the island discussing how soon we will return. Always delicious, always perfect. One more perfect reason for visiting Aruba.

My group ate at MJ's last night. The place was amazing as usual. We were nervous going there reading all the negative reviews but MJ's didn't disappoint. The atmosphere,service and food was exceptional. WE will be going back again next week. What a wonderful experience we shared from start to dessert.

Before going to Aruba this timeI read many reviews and recommondations...First let me say, if your looking to eat all based on saving money,my review will be worthless.Find fast food and road side stands.For me ,finding romance settings and good mixed drinks and great dishes and service is where I want to be.So I will return to Madamme jeanettes as soon as I get back to wonderful Aruba.

We have gWritten many reviews on various sites all glowing. The minute I posted a bad review the chef went nutso. Literally crazy, what he can't take criticism now??

Anyway ordered wedge salad, watered down blue cheese dressing.
Ordered Bang bang shrimp, crumbs of burnt something , certainly not shaped like shrimp, maybe not even shrimp.
Ordered lamb, my all time fav. Out comes this rack covered in some juice. Should have given me a soup spoon. Lamb fine, soup wasn't.
Creamed spinach fine, potato fine.

Service was lacking.
So while we were there they were filming a commercial for cruise ships. Guess what our waiter was doing, yep, you guessed it... Watching the million takes with the camera.

We ask for Kasi, chef Kasi... Nope, he's not here.
We would have complained to him but he wasn't there.

I find it hard to believe that a good size film crew was there filming and he wasn't on the property. It's your restaurant and you weren't there?

We post a bad review and he goes off lecturing us on the meal on that site.
Tells us we should have contacted him. Well, we asked for you Chef, like the other 10 times we were there. Our other past visits we had asked for him and he was never there. We wanted to compliment him before, this visit was to complain.

So those of you out there that are thinking of going, don't.
The place has lost its specialness .
The chef doesn't deserve your money or time.
He should have made it right for us, now it's to late. The damage is done with that arrogant attitude.

Your probably going to be sitting in a large covered outside area with a floor of gravel. Service is poor, and smoking is allowed wish I do not care for either. I had one of their top priced steaks, the cut of beef was not high quality for the price. Bring your bug spray, flies and bugs all over with the food and being outdoors. Not sure why these places do not fog their restaurants a few hours before opening, but I just can't stand when I see flies on my food. The Wedge salad lacked any blue cheese bits, just a watery dressing with part of the core of the head of lettuce not even cut out of the serving. You can do better on the island for the price range.

For dinner, Susan had the Madame burger loin and I had the shrimp casserole. We both had sides of gratin potatoes, a Janette specialty. Susan's steak was absolutely the most tender ever. My casserole was delicious. Since I last ordered it a couple years ago they reduced the amount of cheese and salt and for me the dish was now perfect. Peter our server was attentive but not hovering and we look forward to seeing him again. Madame Janette is a classy, great Arubian restaurant that continues to bring great meals in a great environment.

As always...great meal, great atmosphere, great service. A great time every trip we take to Aruba.

Check your bill before paying it because we had an added charge of $39.50. When we called the waitress over before she looked at our bill she told us what the item was. Within seconds she presented us with the correct bill.
