Marina Pirata...another GREAT meal!!!

Well we never get disappointed eating at Marina Pirata. Our vacation this year was only for 7nts. But we made a point to eat at Marina Pirata twice for our week stay! I tell you after eating at a couple of other places during our week I’m only sorry I didn’t go to the Marina a third time!!! We even took our friends(first timers) and they thoroughly enjoyed there meal!!!!!

Please if you haven’t gone to Marina Pirata at least put it on your list of go to places and give it a try.
A local favorite and my favorite too!!!!
And say Hi to Didi Donker(owner) always around making sure things are running smoothly. Might see his son also in background at bar ((((Truly GREAT people))))!
Again many many years of great food and service!

Very Good Local Restaurant with one of the best locations on the Island. great for sunset dinners or later if you don't want the sunset. very good local seafood with good taste, portions and value. very good service and a wonderful place for kids to see/feed the fish. We always get catch of the day creole style and are always pleased. worth the trip.

Unhappy!

Have been coming to Aruba for 6 years and Marina Parada is always high on our to do's! Tonight's visit with four of our guest was the worst experience we had on the island. The waitress would not split the bill for our table of six, thus created a nightmare at the end of the night. Chicken Cesar salad with ice burg lettuce? Really? Amiture mistake or cost cutting. Shrimp was tough, the waitress would tell you one thing about the menus and didn't match what you were getting! I do not recommend this restaurant! Portion size was very small, if your on a diet jump on this restaurant.

great location with lots of local seafood at reasonable prices but quality and quantity is not what is used to be. also, no kids menu and no vegetarian menu so when we asked for something vegetarian we got a blank stare until we asked for perhaps a dish of pasta. they finally agreed to make a bowl of pasta which was OK but small and $18 for a plain bowl of pasta????? not a way to make repeat business. portions of fish were smaller than usual and overcooked. too bad as it is one of the nicest locations for a local restaurant on the island.

WONDERFUL

Mar 19, 2013 - posted by

We returned to Marina Pirata this year and found it to be as enjoyable as it ever has been. We have always been pleased with everything about this place and and continue to be so. We did notice that they did add a 10% service charge this year and were a bit disappointed to see that but, in all candor, most restaurants are beginning or already have done something similar and it is not unreasonable for this place to have done so. We suspect that the service charge really is largely a result of the failure of patrons to tip in the past. Though tipping really should be a discretionary thing, it has been our observation that many simply no longer tip for whatever reason, and that, in part, has brought about the service charge issue. We believe that a 10% service charge is modest and reasonable - other places charge more - and it is generally deserved. Service here is always good and attentive and we always tip in excess of 10% and encourage others to do so as well.

Marina Pirata is a stable, consistent, dining place with a wonderful setting and some of the nicest staff in ARUBA. It is an experience that we enjoy annually and it is one that we encourage others to partake of. Bring some bread or crackers to feed the fish and be entertained as well. Talk to the owner about recent ARUBAN history and be entertained beyond your wildest imagination. GO AND ENJOY

Disapointment

Mar 6, 2013 - posted by
M husband and I were really looking forward to having dinner at this restaurant. We had heard from a few people that it was great. The ambience and the view was wonderful. Sitting on the dock and being able to feed the fish was a lovely experience. Unfortunately, the fish ended up having most of our dinner as it was not good. The 5 star fish soup was good, but my shrimps and my husband's fish were greasy, and not at all tasty. The french fries had the flavour of being cooked in old stale oil. Would not go back.

Great Place, Good Food, Worth the trip

Feb 19, 2013 - posted by
we go to Marina Pirata every time we are in Aruba. great location and very good food with good prices. Santiago is a great waiter. HOWEVER, watch your bill. We did not make an issue of it but they overcharged for an appetizer (billed us the same in dollars as the price on the menu was in florins). $14 instead of $8 (menu price was $14 florins) and be especially careful of the amount charged for the gratuity. It is supposed to be 10% and although we usually leave more, they automatically made it 20%. next time we will make it an issue. I was very surprised and it kind of put a damper on an otherwise great evening.

very poor

had dinner with party of 5. Though I made a reservation, they didnt know anything about it. Had to wait around 20 minutes and watched angry waiters and saw a lot of disorganisation. The starters were just ok-ish and were relatively quick served, but the wines were sour en not worth the 7 dollars a glass. The main grilled fish was dry and the veggies overcooked and the chicken was way too salty. We had to wait almost 2 hours from entering the restaurant to get the mains! Sorry, but I will not return...they have serious issues in the kitchen....poor organisation, poor quality

disaster

we almost never write a review but this time we could not let it go....ok the evening started of good...we walked down the stairs and had a warm welcome and enjoyed watching the big fish as the waitress told us those were tarpons...she looked really nice untill she moved away from the table and her expression changed from nice to 'i wish i was at home'...ok, that happens..no big deal...so we ordered and the other waiter was very nice and friendly..the fried squid was ok but then the mains came out...terrible...really terrible..the fish was incredibly overcooked, the plantains/veggie and potato were cold...so we send it back to the kitchen...1 minute later it got back on the table looking exactly the sae as we send it back, so i asked the same waitress(the grumpy one)'i am sorry, but is this microwaved??'so she said(while sighing):Yes sir but what do you want??'so we said, well maybe a nice plate of fresh seafood if its not to big of a deal?...i mean come on, its 25 dollars....so she took back the plates and new ones came out, again the plantains were dry and cold, the veggie tasteless, the fish overcooked in lots of fat...and came with soggy fries:( sorry to say but we will not returning back...the atmosphere, our server and location are great, but they have major kitchen issues...
