Felt like Dejavu as we had our first dinner at Matthews like we did this past June. After a tiring travel day we chose a place close by. Very relaxing dinner. DW had the Pina Colada shrimp & I had the Grouper - both dishes were excellent. For drinks we had Margerita, Mojito (love them here), 2 Sangrias (we were really thirsty), and 2 glasses of wine. We didn't have the same server we had in June (did see him bustling around as usual) - the one we had was a bit strange (like she introduced herself to us twice), but overall the service was good. Price with 15% SC & extra tip = 114.90

DW had the Pina Colada Shrimp again (that was her favorite meal this trip - she had it twice) & I had the 14 oz NY Strip steak. We had 2 glasses of wine with dinner. We both enjoyed the drinks, meals, & wine. We sat a table for 2 with a view of the beach. We had a wonderful evening & plan to visit Matthews again on our next trip. Cost with tip = 99.75

I just returned from my week at Costa Linda, a few resorts down from Matthews, and have to say I had the absolute best 2 dinners during my stay in Aruba. The atmosphere is divine.. right on the water. The service is delightful and professional, but the food.. oh my.. what a treat to all the senses. The freshness.. the presentation, and the taste.. just to die for.
The goat cheese and proscuitto appetizer just blew us away, and the special 1 night was a lobster kabob. Cooked perfectly, it was tender and moist, exactly the way lobster needs to be.
I will most certainly be returning to Matthews on my next trip down in Feb.

We have a timeshare next door at Aruba Beach Club but we spend a good deal of our time at Matthews. It has become our home bar/restaurant in Aruba. The food is very good. You can get burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches all the way to finely prepared dinners. the sashimi tuna salad is particularly good. The best part about Matthews are the people that work there. Ricardo, Jorge and all of the staff make you feel at home every time you go there. Their good attitude rubs off on everyone there and we always make very good friends with other patrons. It is fun all of the time but Wednesday night Karaoke is not to be missed. We are already counting the days until we can see our good friends at Matthews next year.

I had the NY Strip steak, wife had the Carribean shrimp, and daughter had the Grouper w/creamy shrimp sauce The service was excellent, the drinks (Mojitos & Margeritas) & wine were very good & everyone enjoyed their dishes. My steak was tasty, but a little on the tough side. But, overall – it was a relaxing dinner in a comfortable setting.

My girlfriend and I were truly shocked reading some of the negative reviews on here - you cannot please everyone, but rating this restaurant with 1's and 2's is criminal. We just returned from our second trip to the island, and this hidden gem was our favorite meal this time around, beating out the perennial top ten on this site by a wide margin. The ambience and location is romantic and breathtaking - as incorrectly noted in other reviews, there are no flies, and your view is not obstructed by the palapas on the beach, unless you need a booster seat with your meal. We had the pleasure of dining in the "honeymoon" chairs, exquisite wicker hooded chairs that were comfortable enough to sleep in. We began the meal with a caprese salad and calamari, both very good. The entree's we enjoyed were excellent; I had the grilled lobster tail, which was perfectly cooked and enormous - easily twice the size of tails served by more popular restaurants on the island, and in this case quantity was hand-in-hand with quality. My gf had the skewers, which were equally massive and delicious - from my tasting, the best filet I sampled during our week stay. The waiter's, in particular Dante, were polite, attentive, and very friendly, and attended to our every need. The ambience and view from the restaurant as noted above were fantastic. This is truly an excellent restaurant; ignore the nay-sayers, do yourself a favor and visit Matthew's. You will not be disappointed!!!
