The Dutch Pancakehouse
Since May 10th 2003 we are welcoming everyone at The Renaissance Marketplace 9, Between 8am and 9pm to taste the flavor and the ambiance of this great location.

After 10 years of experience in making “Dutch Pancakes" in our Dutch Pancake House in Aruba we get the people of Aruba, and of course the tourist who come to visit and enjoy this beautiful island, exciting for our famous Dutch pancakes, or what American call: the crêpes. They are handmade and baked with only fresh ingredients like we do on Aruba for 10 years by an old family recipe.

We discovered the Dutch Pancake House several years ago for breakfast and have been back each year since. We love the crepes and proffertjes. We have tried Linda's Pancackes but it does not compare to this place!

For years we have heard the raving stories of LINDA'S and have been unable to personally partake of their offerings to compare them to Pannekoekhuis. Well, this year we did, and there simply is no comparison. LINDA'S is a fast-food version of Pannekoekhuis and realy does not deserve all of the praise it receives. at LINDA'S the crepes are standard plain crepes and condiments come in a little bowl which is not always adequate. At Pannekoekhuis, the condiments are integrated into the crepes - giving you a true "condiment" crepe as opposed to a crepe with condiments. Anybody can make a pancake
and anybody can throw a bowl of fruit at you, but to combine them properly is art which is realized at Pannekoekhuis and not elsewheres. The diversity of their menu and the quality of service is also superior at Pannekoekhuis and their small pancakes ala ebelskivers are uniquely delicious and a great way to start the day. If you stay at Palm Beach make the trip into Town to enjoy a really good breakfast at Pannekoekhuis and, if you are staying in Town - stay there for breakfast- it's about as good as breakfast gets in ARUBA.

We are happy to have found this restaurant. Located at an extremity of the Marketplace, it's a quiet place. Sometimes, singers play nearby. My husband and I always do 50/50. We took a Dutch pancake, with ham and leeks, and an Provencale, with Brie Cheese. Both were very good by themselves, and with the sugar cane sirup placed on the table. The service was very friendly. We went there for supper. good portion. Will go back before we leave for sure!

I had the chicken cordon bleu and it tasted good (not exceptional). However, the food took a very long time (more than one hour for sure). I stayed nearby in the Renaissance ocean hotel, and I noticed this place was usually empty while the Plaza café just besides is always full of customers. I can imagine why.

AMAZING! We chose to eat here twice on our trip as these are the best tasting and most satisfying crepes we've ever eaten. We highly recommend the savory crepes. We live in both CA and CT and can't find anything even close.

Had pancakes on our first day of arrival, on September 30, since I was craving everything Dutch. The pancakes were just OK, not the real Dutch pancake taste I expected. The establishment looks great and has a good view. However, the waitress acted as if she was being held against her will. She looked totally miserable, and did not want to speak. To this day, we are asking ourselves what language she was speaking, because we don't really remember her saying anything??, but just looking at us waiting for us to speak. We all had full size pancakes with more expensive toppings, which should normally be enough to get an adult stuffed, but the pancakes were so thin. All of us, including our 6 and 11-year-old were still hungry after finishing our pancakes. We decided to go to the Paddock to fill up on Sate' before checking into our resort.

After several nights of heavy eating, we decided to try something a little lighter for dinner and ate at the Dutch Pancake House (Pannekoekhuis) at Seaport Market and Mall across from the casino. We ate there last year and both times had an excellent meal. My wife had the apple and bacon pancake and I had one with several different kinds of berries. The crepe-like Dutch pancakes were perfectly grilled and the toppings were very flavorful. They also have several heavier, dinner crepes for a heartier apetite. Our server was a pleasant young Dutch woman who was attentive and efficient.

The atmosphere is pleasant, sitting out by the sidewalk. We will definitely keep Pannekoekhuis on our list for next year.

Unfortunately, I can't give this restaurant a glowing review. We ate here this summer for the second time, after we found that our favorite pancake restaurant, Linda's, was closed on Sunday.
The dessert pancakes here are fairly good, as are the poffertjes (mini pancakes). But if you order the true Dutch pancakes, with bacon and cheese for example (and I've eaten many in my lifetime, being originally Dutch) they're burnt to a crisp and don't come close to the "real" thing!
This time I ordered a cheese, bacon, ginger and mushroom pancake and didn't have half of it, because it was truly burnt.
If this were the first experience, I wouldn't be so harsh, but last year we had a very similar experience. Too bad!
