Smokey Joe's Island Grill
Smokey Joe’s offers alfresco dining in a colorful festive atmosphere. "We only serve fresh caught local fish…", says executive chef Jose Lago, "...so don’t expect to find salmon and trout on our menu!". We also feature open-fire rotisserie-grilled chicken, and for the meat lover, our thick-cut tender Argentine grass-fed filet mignon is sure to hit the spot. But our ultimate treat has to be the fingerlicking enjoyment of eating our grilled baby back ribs, truly the "Best Ribs in the CARIBBEAN!".

Appetizers were good - had the calamari. Rib sampler was okay, but I've had better. The ribs were burnt and the sauce had a burnt aftertaste. Ordered the filet mignon medium and it came well done. Meat was not the cut it was represented to be - it was tough and had tendons throughout. My bf ordered the grouper, which was better than expected. Moist and flaky. The salsa that came with it tasted funky. Overall, food was average and still expensive ($83 with tip) for what we got. Would have rathered paid more for a better meal. Atmosphere was ok if you like the outdoor dining thing. Windy weather and a shaky table made it less than comfortable however.

Great food value for your money!! My wife and I went there for dinner. I had shark bites to start with their hot sauce (smokin' hot!) and grouper. My wife had calamari to start, and chicken and beef stuffed with gouda cheese in pastry. The calamari had too much batter on them, which is the only reason the food is not a 10. Great place, we would eat there again!

This is another restaurant with sharing issues! Once I read the menu and saw that they give you 3 racks of ribs as a dinner entree I figured I would share with my kids! I don't like to waste food and the hotel we stayed at did not have a kitchen for us to bring back our leftovers. When I told the waiter that I would be sharing my meal with my girls he said "they usually charge extra for sharing but this time he wouldn't" which we appreciated but were very surprised! We finished our meal with the best part! You must try the deep fried Oreo cookies! We shared one plate and ordered another! It is outstanding! I do recommend this restaurant, you get pretty good food for your money.

We were told this was a great place to eat, in spite of the party type appearance. We were pleasantly surprised with the food and the service. Everyone was friendly, even though they got extremely busy after we arrived. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, including families. They have another restaurant downtown and are about to open an additional restaurant in the next couple of weeks. Check it out!

What's not to like? You have to start with one of their drinks - I personally favour the Pink Iguana.

We all like the "Shark Bites", an unusual appetizer and very tasty.

If you order ribs at Smokey Joe's, you WILL have leftovers which make a great next day lunch.

This is our favourite "first night on the island" venue as it's casual and needs no reservations and just seems to fit perfectly with our transition into vacation mode.

Try the deep fried oreos for dessert. Doesn't sound terrific perhaps, but once you try them you may find yourself dangerously hooked!

The best ribs i ever had, anywhere. The drinks were so,so. Advised some of the potent drinks as having 4-5 shots. No way. Go for the ribs, they are the best, prices and menu changed somewhat from their website menu. Enjoy the ribs

We ate here twice a few weeks ago after reading a few online reviews. The ribs were awesome! You get 3 racks per order so make sure to share unless you have a place to keep the leftovers. We had the original sauce both times which was on the sweet side. There are 3 other styles or a sampler.

The atmosphere is cute...just painted benches...and the majority of the restaurant is outside. Believe it or not, we hit rain the night we were there, but met some nice people when we joined their table under cover.

The bar is busy and there is 1 large screen tv and 2 others over the bar for sports. The drinks were quite strong and reasonably priced.

This restaurant is located in the high rise hotel area directly across from Playa Linda. Good places for dessert and coffee in the area and an internet cafe around the corner. Enjoy!

Best ribs ever.just got back on Sunday and we ate here twice and loved the food. I'm told that the secret is that the ribs are boiled first and then grilled making them fall off the bone great!! You get 3 racks for dirt cheap so just share unless you are really hungry or want to take some with you...big flat screen tv for watching the game and great drinks.
