Our first dinner in Aruba and we decided to make reservations at Sole Mare for 5:30 when they opened (needed to go to Super Foods for groceries before they close at 8PM). What a pleasant surprise when we walked in and saw Rodell, our favorite waiter from last year! He is an excellent waiter and interacts well with patrons...he is a true professional and would be an asset to any fine dining establishment.
After a little talk story, Amy ordered the grilled grouper fillet aruban style with penne and I had the "special seafood pasta". It was special because Rodell suggested homemade papardelle pasta which was very delicious! BTW, Sole Mare makes the best funchi (deep fried cornmeal) in all of Aruba! We always eat too much of it at Sole Mare and end up taking away the unfinished entrees! Food was fresh and delicious, service was excellent and friendly and, since we will be on island for 2 weeks, we will definitely be back!
