Sole Mare

I have been coming to Aruba for the past 10 years. I discovered Dole Mare year 2, and we have been back every year for 10 years and have never been disappointed except my last time Jan 24. The menu has changed, the prices have gone up, everything is now a la carte. You don’t even get a small bowl of pasta with veal. How much is a bowl of pasta?? Then we were badgered to add a tip after being charged a 20% service charge. Your greed has cost you a 10 plus year faithful customer!

waited 15 minutes before anyone came to table placed order and waited to get drinks complained about service they had bad attitude very disappointed always loved place never had any problems but this was so bad we cancelled future plans to return on this trip hope next year is better

Went there for dinner 1/28/18
Had a 7:30 reservation- was seated about 7:50
Nobody came to our table for 40 minutes. Got water and said I wanted to order a glass of wine and our dinner. 30 minutes later got wine and then had to ambush the cashier to take our order. We had no waiter or waitress the whole time. Our dinner was delicious and we laughed with others around us about no service. Finally went up to get our bill.
3 dinners including me did not leave a tip. There were many people wandering around but nobody in charge. Even though the food was great, Wouk day never return.

Our first dinner in Aruba and we decided to make reservations at Sole Mare for 5:30 when they opened (needed to go to Super Foods for groceries before they close at 8PM). What a pleasant surprise when we walked in and saw Rodell, our favorite waiter from last year! He is an excellent waiter and interacts well with patrons...he is a true professional and would be an asset to any fine dining establishment.
After a little talk story, Amy ordered the grilled grouper fillet aruban style with penne and I had the "special seafood pasta". It was special because Rodell suggested homemade papardelle pasta which was very delicious! BTW, Sole Mare makes the best funchi (deep fried cornmeal) in all of Aruba! We always eat too much of it at Sole Mare and end up taking away the unfinished entrees! Food was fresh and delicious, service was excellent and friendly and, since we will be on island for 2 weeks, we will definitely be back!

First time to Sole Mare after a recommendation from my niece - Great choice. Hard to find good Italian food outside of NY, but we found some. My wife and daughter both had Chicken Parm and thought it was second best to our favorite restaurant back home. My niece had the Penne ala Vodka with mushrooms and thought it was better than any other she has had. I went with an old favorite - Spaghetti and Meatballs - shocked to find six medium sized meatballs in my dish of Pasta. My only negative was the sauce had too many tomato pieces, I prefer a smoother sauce. We will definitely be back and recommending to our friends.

First time at this restaurant, but will not be my last. The food was fabulous, I had veal parm. The menu is vast, wine list is extensive, atmosphere was great, service impeccable! I wish they jarred their "gravy" (sauce), as I would have shipped home a case of it!
Don't miss the opportunity to dine at Sole Mare!

My husband and I went to eat at Sole Mar on our last night in Aruba. Everything was delicious! My husband has shrimp scampi and I chicken parm, both outstanding. Rudy, our waiter, was very friendly and witty. We will be going back next year and bringing some friends!

Great food Horacio was wonderful service great nice laid back atmosphere a must try food excellent! Highly recommend u wouldn't think u could get such good Italian in aruba!

We own a home in Palma Real and when we visit we never miss a night out at Sole Mare. We have never been disappointed, in fact our Italian friends ask to go here when they are visiting from New York. It has become one of our favorite restaurants in Aruba. Dell, our usual waiter is a pleasure and always makes sure we are all happy! We highly recommend not missing out on some wonderful, mouth watering, tasty appetizers, entrees, and deserts. You will not leave wishing you choice anyplace else.

Definitely going back! From the quality of the food to the level of service everything was excellent! Even the house chardonnay was very good! Heard about Sole Mare out in the water on Palm Beach and so glad we did! I had the eggplant parmesan and it was the best I ever had! All portions were large! Hubby had the veal and our girls had chicken fettuccini alfredo and four cheese pasta with chicken! We all had to bring half home! See you next year Sole Mare!
