Sole Mare

We had a 2 week stay in Aruba this year and ate at Sole Marie the 2nd week. If we had known had good this place was we would have eaten here the first week as well. The service and food was terrific. The staff made you feel at home. We were a party of 6 and every one of us including our 11 yr old niece enjoyed every minute of our meal. We each had something different to eat and all of it was very good. We can’t wait to come back next year!

we make it to Sole Mare at least twice during our 2 week stay.we usually go for the early bird I ordered the grouper and my wife the chicken parmiagiana both were outstanding.the service never stopped from the moment we walked and we're greeted until we left.portions were excellent and both taste and presentation outstanding. Keep up the great work we'll see you in September.

I have been to Sole Mare twice for the early bird special. The menu for this is limited BUT is EXCELLENT to say the least. Be sure to go and not only experience delicious food but a family home with entertainment and wonderful friendly service. We will be coming back!

Dined here recently upon our arrival and going back again tonight.We have tried many eateries on the Island since arriving and although most were very good,not one has been good enough to make us want to eat there every night !!!!!

After many years, we finally made it to SOLE MARE and had the opportunity to see what it was all about. We were quite pleased with what we experienced and could only wonder in amazement as to what the place must have been like in its earlier days. The menu is one of the more extensive ones that we have ever seen in ARUBA and it diversity is great. We were pleased with the food, the service and the ambiance of the place and found the prices to be reasonable as well. The place is worthy of a visit and is a pleasant change of pace from some of the other dining venues and clearly merits the praise that others heap upon it.

I'm always hesitant with restaurant reviews because you never know where they are coming from. Here is a little backround. We come from the NYC area and fine dine in NYC often, so we like good food. Sole Mare does serve what we consider to be good Italian food, very good for the islands. We have tried it several times, and were happy with our selections this year.
Of our group of 8, none were disappointed. Having tried a variety of dishes, from the steak and veal pizzioloa, and pasta bolognese, all were good. The pizziola was different from home but tasty. The bolognese was tomato based, no cream was detected, with a flavorful meat mixture.
Our only issue with this place is the service. Island service is slow, and to be expected. The main issue is that 2 members of our party dined at Sole Mare the previous week. They were with a large group and were at a back table in a very hot spot in the restaurant. When making this reservation, they asked for a different table, and were shown a table in front, and even given a table number (#16) that was written next to our reservation. When we arrived on time for our reservation, they had given our table away and tried to stick us in the back at the hot table. We waited an additional 20 minutes for a different table and they claimed not to know anything about the table request.

After dining at Sole Mare for many years and several times a year we had an unfortunate situation with the hostess/manager. Early in the day we called to ask if we could change our reservation by 15 minutes. She rudely said 15 minutes and not one minute more. I explained that we had a time conflict with our taxi driver and she said "then call another taxi company". I found her behavior so alarming as Sole Mare has always been so accommodating. Our taxi ended up stuck in traffic and we were going to be 3 additional minutes late. I called immediately as she was so rude and firm about the time. She immediately said "I gave your table away". I questioned her a little more and in fact she had not given our table away so we arrived 3 minutes late and went right to our table. On the phone I offered to have her tell us when our time was up so we did not occupy a table they needed. The restaurant was 1/2 full when we arrived and about 2 hours later we left and no one was waiting for our table. Her behavior was so shocking for Aruba that I returned home compelled to write this review. Honestly we have never been treated so rudely by anyone-in the US or Aruba.

The food was excellent. The portions were large...they don't even skimp on the early bird special...which I recommend if you're not familiar with some dishes. I highly recommend...it is now on our top "to do" places! Keep up the good work and we will be back!

Sole Mare- Was really in the mood for Italian. Terrible parking but nice restaurant. I had the chicken parm with speg. Wife had Penne ala vodka and both were delicious. Hostess was not pleased with table they gtave us and moved us on her own. Nice touch.every other year.

Just returned from a 10-day trip to Aruba and visited Sole Mare 2 times. From the min. we walked in to leaving, the service was great. Always enjoy the comp. Fried Polenta and Garlic Bread. I ordered the Shrimp Fra Diavolo over Spag. and asked for it to be super,spicy HOT. It was one of the best S.F.D. that I ever had....large tender shrimp in a delicious, HOT red sauce...PERFECT as I requested. I ordered this on both visits. Just the best!! My hubby enjoyed the nice sized portion of Veal Parm. We will always eat at Sole Mare when visiting Aruba.
