Sole Mare

the food was excellent we went back twice! tried a different italian place while we were there and it was terrible - had the same dish i had at sole mare and by far the dish i had at sole mare was far better and i didn't have heartburn all night like i had from the other place. sole mare is one place that is always on our list every year.

just returned from sole mare and decided to try their early bird special...it was worth every florin/penny! the grouper was very fresh and prepared perfectly and was a huge fillet (almost a foot long!). i had the linguine w/fruitti de mer and that also was excellent...pasta al dente and seafood fresh and just right! granted there was only 1 large shrimp & mussel but enough clams & squid. oh, wife had the minestrone soup as appetizer (which she enjoyed) & i had the salad (good). we also added fried squid as additional app (very good & fresh). for dessert we both had the flan (very good) & coffee. service was excellent & attentive (we were there early...6pm). did have to wait a bit for check but enjoyed the ambiance ;-)
did i mentioned the portions were generous? had to take my pasta home cuz helped wife finish her grouper!
all in all, it was an EXCELLENT & tasty value and we will definitely return for more!

The first time we went to Sole Mare was about three years ago. At that time the service was terrible and the food was just average. We decided to try it again and I am sorry to say that the service was a tad better, but the food was worse. It's kind of hard to screw up spaghetti w/white clam sauce, but they managed to. The clams that were actually whole were nice and juicy, but the clams that were chopped for the sauce were dry and reminded me more of a meat sauce rather than a clam sauce. There are so many great restaurants in Aruba; this is NOT one of them.

We just got back from Sole Mare and I had to report this. The food was outstanding but it was spoiled by the service. The apps came out very fast but that is where it all stopped. We had to wait for our food longer than usual, we asked for another bottle of wine which did not come until our meals were done. Another wait for them to bring the desert tray followed by yet another wait for coffee. Again the food was great but don't go unless you have time and patients to wait.

My wife and I first ventured upon Sole Mare 8 years ago while walking one night. To this day it remains a stable in our dining experience each return trip to Aruba. The irony is that while I am not Italian (as you don't need to be) this seems to be the way good Italian food should be prepared. There is not an entree my wife and I have tried over these years that has not been mouth watering delicious. The wine pairings have always been good, The coming desert(if there's room)delightful and the atmosphere is inviting with a classic old world charm.
We purposefully walk each time from our hotel to relieve our bellies from an evening of savory delights.
If you are in the mood for exquisite food in an attractive environment this is the place. Well done Sole Mare and we'll definitely see you on our return trip.

Just came back from my trip to Aruba a few weeks ago and tried sole mar for the first time, we loved it and went twice while we were there even on my moms birthday when they came out with a beautifully presented dessert and sang! The gnocchis were amazing and I heard the fish was very good too. The polenta with the marinara was awesome too! Def will be visiting sole mar again!

We felt that this was just an average italian restaurant, but because our service was so poor, it was a total turnoff and ruined our night out. Things started off well in that we had 2 separate waiters approach our table as we sat down. However, neither one showed up for some time after that and it continued through dinner. Our order took a long time and our meals were served late. The waitress did realize this and tried to offer additional bread but we just waited for our dinner. I had ordered the fruite d' mare with the garlic sauce. It had a ton of calamari in it yet they were all overcooked and had a rubbery texture. We finished with a piece of tiramisu and it was just average too me. It lacked the strong coffee flavor and the sponge cake was not as moist as could be. Not a favorite of ours - we will not be eating here again.

We were a party of six. As soon as we walked into Sole Mare, we knew from the aroma of the sauce, everything would be delicious. We are from the New England area and frequent many fine Italian restaurants. Sole Mare did not disappoint. It is now one of our favorite restaurants in Aruba!

Good food but pay attention to the bill. They changed my order to the more expensive one. I ordered Rigatoni alla Vodka with shrimp and the waitress gave me Scampi Aglio e olio with extra $5 for the shrimp. And Scampi Aglio e olio, supposedly, the shrimp already included.
If you are going to change my order, it would be nice to let us know.

The original bill arrived and she overcharged us. The new bill arrived and still overcharged us with the $5 shrimp. WTH?

Como local mi a come 2 biaha na sole Mare! Prome biaha tabata na december 2010 y awor na september 2011. E servicio, cuminda, amambilidad, ambiente di e restaurant ta fabuloso!
Mi ta recomenda tur local cu ta desea di disfruta di un tremendo restaurant italiano cu un supr dushi menu, pa bishita Sole Mare!!!
