We celebrated my birthday with dinner at the Flying Fishbone on 9/27 and had a wonderful evening. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was a great island experience. We thought the service was at the perfect pace -- I can't understand why anyone would be in a rush to get their food and get out of there! The wine and mixed drinks were very nice and we enjoyed the relaxed pace of the evening. We even ordered a dessert we were really too full to completely enjoy just to stretch the evening out a bit longer. We would strongly recommend this restaurant.

I've eaten here many times over the years. The service has always been prompt, the food excellent, and if you can manage to get a reservation for sunset it is one of the most romantic places to be on the island. Overall i would and have recommended this restaurant.

We went to the Flying Fishbone during the week of Aug 2-9, 2007. The scenery is very nice as the sun goes down but that is when things go down hill. I ordered steak medium. It came out rare and fatty. Also the bugs came out. Our legs got all bit up. It is so dark at your table you can't see what you are eating. My stomach was upset for the next two days.

We saw flying fishbones!! We saw fish jumping("flying") out of the water. We had a great time here and enojoyed the whole atmosphere and experience. Our table was located right in the water and our feet were in the water the whole time. There were only 5 tables right in the water but there were another 20 tables outside in the sand near the water. Stan was our waiter and he did a great job and all the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. We talked to several couples around us and had a great time. There were many crabs for entertainment, but we never got bitten. There was a sax player wandering around the tables which was nice and romantic. Food was very good, we shared a coconut shrimp salad, which was not too coconutty but very good. One meal was the bluecheese shrimp casserole, which was VERY yummy, must try. The other meal was a french styled chicken which was cooked perfectly and very flavorful, ate the whole thing. We had a mix of sorbets for dessert which was perfectly light after a filling dinner. Reservations recommended. It was a little hard to find but worth the find, the cab drivers should know right where it is.
Definitely a must try and we will be back!

I was recently married in Aruba. My husband and I were staying at an all inclusive hotel. Since we would be eating hotel food the entire week we wanted to find a nice resturant where we could have some privacy with our family to hold our dinner at after the ceremony. I wanted to over look the water, so our choices were limited. I had found the Flying Fishbone on line but did not think our parents would like sitting with there feet in the water, they are little more old fashion, so I picked another resturant. However, when my husband and I arrived in Aruba and went to look at it we were very disappointed! A quick lesson that web sites do not always tell the truth. Our cab driver recommended the Flying Fishbone and took us there. He personally took us inside to meet the manager. She was VERY accomodating and took me upstairs to a balcony they have over looking the water. The web site does not tell you about the balcony, but it was perfect for the age range of our guests. We got married on Tuesday, a slower night for them, so she was able to reserve it just for us. We had a beautiful view of the ocean with a private party. The food was fabulous! Everyone ordered something different and everyone had a wonderful meal. In addition, since I was having a reception back home, I wanted to change out of my wedding dress so I would not spill anything on it. I changed in the bathroom and the staff gladly hung my dress in the office during dinner. I would highly recommend this resturant, especially for a special occasion. The food was fabulous and the customer service outstanding!

My husband and I came here on recommendation from a good friend...the restaurant itself was beautiful....a little far from the hotel (Phoenix)...but not too bad as we had a rental car...anyway...we were not impressed at all....our biggest complaints was the service...our waiter explained the two fish specials to us...the first was the snapper, the second was the grouper...I ordered the grouper..as we were waiting for our food to arrive...we were kind of wondering if we were going to be brought bread or anything...we found out...we overheard another waiter explain to another table that they only have two ovens..so there is "a list"...so we waited....then we watched OUR waiter bring bread to two other tables that were sat AFTER us...then our food came...they brought me the snapper...I said no...I ordered the fish #2-the grouper...the man saod who brought said he would look into it..he left the snapper in front of me...another lady came over and asked if everything was ok, and I said no, I ordered the grouper and they brought me the snapper...she said there was no grouper tonight...and the man at the table next to mine said he ordered the grouper too and she said that our waiter must have been confused becuase there was no grouper...so I said I guess I will try the snapper...I took one bite and couldnt eat it..it was way too fishy..then our original waiter came over and asked if everything was ok...i said no, you told me the special was grouper, this is snapper and i cant eat it...he said "oh ok" and walked away...didn't offer to bring me anything else. The bugs were outrageous! I had about 30 bug bites the next day that turned into welts...my husband didn't have as many...I guess he got lucky...seeing as I didnt have a dinner to eat..my husband gave me some of his...then we decided to leave and go somewhere to get pizza or something...it took forever for the waiter to come over again so we walked to the front o the restaurant...the assistant manager was there, and asked if everything was alrite...she was very nice, apologized profusely and didn't make us pay..which was good...I am sure we just had a bad experience....everyone else seems to enjoy the place...we just wanted to share our experience....Screaming Eagle..the ohter restaurant owneb by the same owners was absolutely wonderful!!!!

I made a reservation at this restaurant before we even left for our trip after reading all the reviews. I had high expectations of a very romantic dinner for our 10th wedding anniversary. I was very disappoined. We had a waterfront seat at 5pm to watch the sunset. Our table had to be adjusted several times to avoid sinking in the sand. It seemed as though the two people doing this had never done it before. I would think that this would be something that needed to be done often and they would have a procedure for it. Once we sat, it was great to sit with our feet in the water and there was a cool hook to hang our shoes on. There is also a cool shower to rinse your feet off when you leave (with towels)! The food was good but not outstanding. We had a much better dinner at Madame Janette's the night before. When the sun started setting, everyone started standing up to take pictures and because we had the waterfront seat everyone was standing next to our table asking us to take pictures of them and climbing over our chairs. It was not exactly the romantic quiet dinner we expected. there were even kids running around climbing on the rocks. Our view of the sunset was also blocked by other tables sitting up higher. We spent $180 on dinner for 4 beers, glass of champagne, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and one desert and then left a 20% tip. Our waitress was great. Thankfully we had rented a car otherwise it is a $25 cab ride from high rise hotels (one way). All in all, not worth the money or the long ride from high rise. It took over 1/2 hour to get there from the Westin and is a little off the beaten path. The Westin also had a sunset dinner on the beach and I think that next time we will just do that. Madame Janette's was closer, more romantic, better service and better food.

My husband and I took a chance and planned our tenth anniversary dinner here for 20 people. We had never eaten there before but were told by friends that the food was very good; they were right. We loved everything about it, the service, the atmosphere, and the food. Will definitely eat here again, and again.

Ambiance and pefect sunsets cannot be beat. The service, however, was not up to par. Three of four orders were correct -- the staek/lobster combination came after others had consumed most of their meal. We have been before and detected a deterioration in the service and the food. Previous ratings would have been 9/10. I cannot recommend the Flying Fishbone at this time. It is a long ride for anyhting less than perfection.
