Probably the best on the island!
Warning: Be sure to make reservations, and be sure to get good directions--it's off the 'beaten path', far from the high-rises (well beyond the airport).
Ambiance (on--or 'in'--the water) is unbeatable, quite romantic. Be prepared to kick off your shoes and enjoy a classy dinner! Cost: $$$$
Unlike most reviewers, I found the service more-than acceptable....waiters on both visits (Dutch) were exceptionally pleasant and willing to converse...however, a bit slow (as others have noted) on bringing desert.

We've been going to Aruba for many years (14)and have eaten in many of their restaurants! A few have come and gone, but the Fishbone is still there. Loved sitting with my feet in the water. Service was excellent, food (have had many different entrees)fantastic! If you drive out yourself it is a little nerve wracking thinking " Is this the place!!" Once inside your still unsure..just keep walking straight till you see the hostess. Then the rest of the evening is very romantic! Be sure to try and arrive for the sunset! Beautiful! Can hardly wait for my return this fall (Oct). Try it, you won't be dissapointed!

There were two good things here, the atmosphere and the chowder. Other then that the restaurant was all gimick, not to mention it was all the way at the southern end of the island.

My husband I went to the Flying Fishbone on the recommendation of our hotel consierge. We got a nice table right on the beach. Unfortunately there were children playing by the waterfront on the beach next to the restaurant, just a few feet from our table. Their splashing in the water wet down my clothes - not so pleasant! And no one in the staff seemed to care :( Also the close neighbours on the other side of the restaurant were playing, now adults on jet skis. It was very noisy and took all the romantic atmosphere away. One of the jet skiers got injured, so the ambulance had to come and take care of him.

We didn´t order starters, so when I ordered the main course from the menu I got another course than I´ve ordered. When the correct course got in, the Chef´s Special with 1/2 lobster tail and 1/2 shrimp skewer, the seafood was soaking in oil. My husband ordered the Beef Ttenderloin well done, but got it medium.

Yet the service was good, we got our drinks and our food served very fast, and at the sunset was very beautiful and romantic.

So we must have had bad luck this evening. Next time we come to Aruba we will give The Flying Fishbone a new chance, the lightning never strucks twice at the same place...

My family had a fabulous meal at the Flying Fishbone. We have two adult sons and we all ordered salads/appetizer than a dinner. It was too much food. Recommendation would be to share a salad or make that your main course. The presentation of the food was beautiful. We even took pictures. The service was excellent and everyone was very attentive. A must when visting Aruba!

I enjoyed this restaurant. I made a reservation and requested a beach side table. We ended up sitting on the beach, but further back then I would have liked. I guess I should have been more specific. The food came out fast, and was very good. My only complaint was that it took 30 minutes to get my dessert, at which point I was kind of tired of waiting for it, and I wanted to go. I would definately recommend this restaurant though!

This place was an interesting mix. We went on the recommendation of several friends, and in a lot of respects are glad we did. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere and experience is certainly worth it as well, and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, we spent much of the evening with several "navy boats" (as called by our waiter) racing through the water, causing waves large enough to make the ankle deep water knee high. Service was slow. Waiter largely ignored us. As far as price, you pay for the view. If you expect that, it's not an issue. All in all, an experience I'm glad we did once, but will move on somewhere else next time.

not worth the trip....This restaurant cannot compare to madam janettes. If you like to sit on a croesed beach and eat mediocre foood then go here....very disapointing. waiters were very friendly but the rest is overpriced and far from hotels....

Let me just say - totally worth it! Worth the effort to get there and worth the price. Food is delicious - I had the grouper, my husband had the chicken...both were sooo good. Service was laid back and unhurried which we were happy about as we thoroughly enjoyed the environment and sun set. (Made on line reservation before we left home to ensure a water front table). Not an inexpensive meal, but a great experience!
