We have been at the Flying Fishbone our second time after 2005. And it was as fantastic as the first time. With a seat at the beach outside and a very delicious dinner we felt like in paradise. This was not the last time we were there...

I've been to Aruba four time, but had never been there before. Best for ambience -- no contest. We really liked it. Only downside, I ordered the Dutch pork, and it was tough. Don't order it. My kids' meals were great. Reservations are helpful, but not a must. Get there before sunset. To find it, go past the airport and in Savaneta look for the VW bug with the surfboard sign on the top.

First of all, this place is far away from any of the high rise hotels so we rented a car. A cab ride would have been $35 each way. We went there on a Friday night and were told to get there before sunset around 6:00-6:15 and I'm glad we did. The sunset and the atmosphere is very romantic. Also, make reservations in advance and ask for a table near the water! It's a great dining experience and you can take some really nice pictures. I had the lobster salad for an appetizer which was excellent. I had the lobster and shrimp for my entree which was also very good and for dessert the creme brulee was awesome! Our waiter Albert was very polite, professional and informative. The only negative I had with the restaurant was that at times there were a lot of bugs flying around the table. Albert explained to us that they were "flying ants" and that they didn't bite. We didn't want to eat outside any longer so he moved us inside without any problems. It's a great dining experience and would probably go back again.

Our third year in Aruba and after all the raving reviews our first time to Flying Fishbone.
We reserved for 6:30, so we would experience the sunset and a table as close to the water as possible. We got a nice table, but next time we'll know to ask as close to the sunset as possible, as right around sunset the view was blocked by everyone (understandably) getting up and taking pictures.
The service was friendly and adequate. The food wasn't as spectacular as I had expected from all the reviews.
The kids loved it there (they are used to restaurants and to sitting for long whiles, so I don't know how representative they are) and found dishes they enjoyed.
My one disappointment (which may be others delight) was the dessert. My husband and I ordered a chocolate mousse and so did the kids. The portion was gigantic (which is why many people will love it), but the presentation (which I love for desserts) was lacking. I lost my appetite seeing the sheer size of the thing. It tastes good, but not spectaculair.
Overall, we will return, if only to get a table closer to the sunset action!
