Great New Place

Jul 21, 2014 - posted by
We had a group of 8 that had gone on a sunset cruise out of the marina downtown. We went over to The West Deck, without reservations, and were treated great. We were greeted by Donald, who was our host and server. The menu has a large selection of small plates and also a lot of Caribbean dishes, as well. We ordered many different items and all were great! The Jerk Wings stood out as did the Coconut Shrimp. All were great! Cocktails were outstanding, the space is fantastic and was a great value! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for dinner downtown! We will return.

Great new place!

We love staying downtown (at the Renaissance) so were so pleased with this new addition to downtown dining options! We visited twice on our latest trip. Our server, Humberto, was a big part of enjoyment. The food was another plus--the sate, keshi yena and funchi were all excellent. The view can't be beat. A great new addition to Aruba's dining choices!!

Happy Happy!!!

Well, we heard about West Deck from friends that come twice a year. We decided to check it out after a day at Baby Beach. Even in our very casual attire,we were greated with smiles from all the staff, our drinks were amazing and the food was great. The conch fritters with the dipping sauce were tasty, as well as the grouper sandwiches. We liked it so much we came back, and were greated by Sophia who remembered our names. Everyone had fun, including the staff. We laughed about being photo bombed while Sophia took our pictures. She was so sweet. The Keeshie ( I know I spelled it wrong) that my husband tried was to die for. The burger I had was great too. We highly recomend the West Deck and look forward to going again in April 2015..Check it out.
I highly recomend this place!

Great disapointment

After reading the good reviews my fiancee and I decided to go to The West Deck after our dives. We got there at 1pm and I must say that the place is amazing, the view is stunning...we were thrilled. Well the first waiter that came to us was very polite and helpful, but after that it all went down. Literally it took 1 hour and 35 minutes for our food to be served...we ordered a burguer which was good and a chicken salad sandwich that I did not like. Forks, knives and napkins were not provided, my fiancee had to go to the bar to ask for it because there were no waiters anymore where we were. The waiter that brought our food and the check was in a really bad mood and was very unpolite. Too bad for then because we are coming back in September for our wedding together with 30 more people, and that it is a place we will not recomend to our guests.

My husand and I ate dinner here but did not order the small plates. I ordered the special which was blackened grouper. Both are meals were fabulous. Our wait staff was terrific and she had a good sense of humor. There was a singer with his keyboards and it was wonderful eating outdoors by the water listening to music!

Great Food in a Relaxed Atmosphere

I visited Aruba in September and really enjoyed The West Deck. After walking up and down the strip for 35 minutes, we finally settled on the (at that time) newer restaurant. Eating near the water was great and I loved the appetizer concept. There was still plenty of food where no one left hungry. Do try the Jerk Chicken Wings. They come with a Watermelon dipping sauce that's delicious.

Great new place on the water's edge

We dined at the West Deck (party of four) last night. We're looking for something casual and had seen a few good reviews so we decided to give it a shot. We were greeted by the Manager who wished us a Happy New Year and seated us at a table right on the water.

Drinks were quickly served and they were great. We ordered a number of small plates, including, bay salad, garlic shrimp, Arashi chicken, fish sliders, calamari, stone crab and lobster roll, and assorted Aruban breads. Everything was excellent, and there was enough for all four of us. Service was also excellent, and the entire meal, including drinks, food, and the 15% service charge (to which we added a few dollars extra) came to $70 per couple. This is a great new place and we will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Small Plates?

Wow what a great place. We come to Aruba twice a year and eat all over. This new place is great. There were four of us and we sat on the deck....there is some seating on the beach.....and could watch the beautiful Aruban sunset. We each ordered 2 small plates. Ceviche, coconut shrimp, ribs, lobster shrimp roll, chicken with pineapple and cranberry, keshi yenna, cornbread with Gouda, fish cakes and an order of pan bati. We are used to the pan bati at The Old Fisherman so we asked for cheese and were nicely accommodated. Our waiter was Kevin who is also the bartender. What a great guy! He played a joke on my husband......who is also a bartender.......how funny! Our bill came to $150 but you see how much food we had plus 2 cocktails and a bottle of wine. Not bad for 4 people in Aruba!

Fantastic small plates meal!

Recently discovered this relatively new restaurant while staying down the road in Aruba. We passed it several times, and by night time the place is lit with lanterns and beautiful strands of lights. The decor and ambiance were simply perfect - very romantic, but I would imagine it would also be a fun place for a family meal. The main floor of the restaurant is a deck overlooking the beach and ocean. Nice quiet music was playing in the background. Our waiter was wonderful and very friendly - by the end of the meal he was even providing us with recommendations for other restaurants to try and beaches to see "just like the locals". We enjoyed a couple cocktails during the course of dinner - delicious and refreshing. The food could not have been better. I LOVE small plate dining - we tried the Balashi grouper (amazing and perfectly cooked!), Keeshi (an Aruban specialty with shredded chicken that I am going to be missing when I am back home!), fish sliders (best fish burger I have ever had), and ceviche (also delicious). Four dishes were perfect for us as we did not want a heavy meal, but obviously you can titrate. We loved this restaurant so much we may come back at least once more on this trip, just to try more of the menu in this wonderful establishment.
