Yemanja Woodfired Grill
Aruba-s only wood-fired grill restaurant! Beautifully situated in downtown Oranjestad, behind the Renaissance Hotel. Yemanja is relaxing and welcoming, with a passion for tradition and excellence. Seating is either inside (air-conditioned) or outside on a cozy terrace. Serving innovative Caribbean cuisine. Locally-caught fish, shrimp, prime cuts of beef, lamb, pork, duck and poultry are all prepared over a wood fire using mesquite and hickory. Also our appetizers & salads are a real treat! The result is succulent, tender and flavorful dishes that only wood-fire grilling can produce.
We hope we may welcome you soon here in Yemanja.

Yemanja is located in town right up the block from the renaissance hotel. We started with the potatoe soup and fish chowder soup which both were very good. Aside from the waitress forgetting to bring one of the soups that we had to wait for 5 minutes to get her attention the service was good. We had the trio and the Mahi-Mahi both very great. Our dinner came with 4 sides to share, which was a nice touch. One of the top dinners we had.

We were referred to the restaurant by our hotel Concierge.
What a refreshing, wonderful change from the typical overpriced seafood/steakhouses. We so enjoyed the service and excellent food that we returned again during our trip. DO NOT MISS.

Since we love sister restaurants Marandi and Que Pasa, we decided to try Yemanja on this trip. I had the scallops, they were excellent. My husband had the rack of lamb and said it was not very flavorful. The children's menu is a bit lacking, they should also offer pasta, or chicken fingers, rather than only "older kids" choices. Service was rather slow, it took a long time for someone to bring us our drinks. The location is also not very appealing, if you sit on the outside patio, you have a wonderful view of a street and parking lot. It was also very smoky out there.

Definitely the best restaurant we ate at in all of aruba. Food was delicious and worth the trip downtown from. Philo/goat cheese wrap was amazing. Very good wine list. Only complaint would be too much sauce/butter on the steak.

We ate at Yemanja on night 3 of our honeymoon in Aruba. This was our first non-beachfront dinner of the trip, and one of our best. We sat outside, which was a touch warm, but very bearable.

The Tuna Tartar appetizer was *incredibly* good, so good, that when we saw this on the menu anywhere else (for the duration of the trip), we ordered it immediately (altho it was never as good as it was at Yemanja)

Service was impeccable, and we'd easily visit again if/when we make it back to Aruba.

This was our second dining experience at Yemanja and it was as good as the first. The Beef Carpaccio Bomb was to live for. My wife and I had the grouper both ways and with the sides, excellent. Our waiter Rik explained it was his second day there.
He was awesome and made you feel welcome. Can't wait til next year.Keep up the great work and thanks for a great memory!

We made a reservations weeks in advance and despite a follow-up e-mail saying we did not need a high chair, they had table for us with a high chair. So instead of sitting inside, we were put at a table outside right next to the entrance.
We ordered 4 meals
(and a sharing fee)and 3 of them were excellent. The strip loin was fatty and chewy and when we told the server, she came and told us the kitchen told her that is how a strip loin is.
The skirt steak, lamb chips and the children's grilled chicken were great, as were the sides and bread.
Cannot guarantee a return visit, but we wouldn't rule it out.

Overall a nice restaurant: the food is good, the service is good, the meals look nice, but not a 10. I had beef carpaccio and a rib eye steak; the carpaccio was presented in an unusual manner as a pie (the beef on the outside as a wrapper), but it has too many green vegies for my taste. The rib steak, even though made medium rare as requested was a bit chewy and too fatty.

wonderful find! I stumbled across this spot while walking aorund town and was immediately drawn to the whimisical decor and concept of " wood fired grill". The Chef/ Owner- Joyce is clearly passionate about delivering a stellar dining experience to all of her customers. The food is of the finest and freshest quality, it is expertly and creatively prepared without being over garnished. I would also like to add this was one of the few places on the island, that treated us as welcome guest, as opposed to just another couple of transient tourists. Wonderful experience!

We were one of the first people to ever eat at YEMANJA'S a few years ago and havemade it a point to return each year since, including this year. In fact we made it a point to eat here twice during our most recent trip and had an intersting experience. Our first meal was great - as good as any you can find in ARUBA. So we were confident that our second meal would be as good, if not better - SURPRISE, it was not and was significantly less satisfying than the first meal on an y number of levels including, taste, presentation, and service. Though we continue to regard YEMANJA as one of the better restaurants in ARUBA - we are concerned that there is a lack of consistency here and we do not know what that will mean for the future of the place.
