Yemanja Woodfired Grill
Aruba-s only wood-fired grill restaurant! Beautifully situated in downtown Oranjestad, behind the Renaissance Hotel. Yemanja is relaxing and welcoming, with a passion for tradition and excellence. Seating is either inside (air-conditioned) or outside on a cozy terrace. Serving innovative Caribbean cuisine. Locally-caught fish, shrimp, prime cuts of beef, lamb, pork, duck and poultry are all prepared over a wood fire using mesquite and hickory. Also our appetizers & salads are a real treat! The result is succulent, tender and flavorful dishes that only wood-fire grilling can produce.
We hope we may welcome you soon here in Yemanja.

Op advies van mijn broer met hem bij Yemanja gaan eten. Voortreffelijk, ben zelfs al weer een keer teruggeweest. Een aanrader voor de culinaire liefhebber.

Our dinner at Yemanja was good, but not great. We love woodfire grilled food, so we started with the grilled vegetable appetizer. It was good, tasty dressing and a nice flavor to the vegetables though they could have been cooked a bit more (they were still quite crunchy, nearly raw). Although I had asked for the salmon to be grilled until just done, not overdone, it was in fact overcooked and was quite dry. Surprisingly, it did not have much of the woodfire grill taste, and the teriyaki sauce was far too salty and overwhelmed the fish. Rack of lamb was OK but again lacked the woodfire grill taste. On the upside, I had an outstanding glass of red wine from their by-the-glass choices.

This was one of the best dining experiences of my life (saying a lot because I grew up in New York, now live right outside Scottsdale, and travel a bit). My wife, who is an avid Cook's Illustrated fan, shared my enthusiasm. We began with a shrimp appetizer - the wood-fired shrimp were served along with a nice salad including a grilled papaya salsa. Then I had a stuffed grouper, served with delicious filling which included flavorful Dutch cheese, and lightly battered -- one of the best fish dishes I've ever eaten. My wife had a tender rib-eye served with a chimichurri sauce, vegetables and mashed potatoes also a step above expectations in flavor and presentation. The desserts were also quite nice - a delicate combination of chocolate and white chocolate mousse, and a grilled mango served with cocoanut ice cream, both presented nicely. Service was also great, attentive and pleasant without being fake friendly or interfering with privacy. Highly recommended, we'll probably go back before we leave Aruba.

My wife and I decided to dine here during our recent stay in Aruba after reading some previous reviews. We were not disappointed. We had a very romantic dinner sitting outside. The service & food presentation were great and our steaks were cooked to perfection. Finish off your meal with a Spanish Coffee!! We will be back!

This was our third visit to Yemanja and it was as good as we remembered it to be. We started with drinks at the bar while our table was made ready. The bar was quite nice and the outside area of the restaurant had a good number of tables filled. It was a beautiful and ‘cool’ night. There were four of us and we each enjoyed four different dinner selections.

So sorry we didn't find this place sooner! The food was delicious, the service was great, as was the atmosphere. Easy to walk to. Will definitely go back when we're in Aruba again! The wood fire creates a wonderful flavor!

went there on my last trip.the food was allright.one thing I have to comment was the bartender, he told me that he didn´t make any cocktails.
He made me an aruba ariba, it was the worsed one I ever had on the island.
Quality of food and drinks should be on the same level, so work on that.
Good luck!I might be back...

WE HAVE TRAVELED TO ARUBA MANY TIMES NOW AND YEMANJA IS BY FAR ONE OF THE TOP RESTAURANTS THAT WE HAD THE PLEASURE OF DINING AT. WHEN YOU GO THERE ASK FOR DIANA, SHE AND TWO OTHER YOUNG LADIES GAVE US THE BEST SERVICE THAT WE HAD ON THE ISLAND. I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST THE CATCH OF THE DAY WHICH ON THE TWO DAYS THAT WE ATE THERE WAS GROUPER, BOTH DISHES WERE PREPARED IN A DIFFERENT WAY AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH DISHES WE HAD. SERVICE, FOOD, SETTING AND THE STAFF WERE ALL EXCELLENT.

Went on our last night (4/4). Great service and food. Very comfortable, friendly, hip Euro vibe, and playing Pat Methany in the background is always a huge plus. With a longer vacation we would have been back for sure, and plan to on our next Arubba trip. Highly recommended!

I believe that I am allowed to enter two reviews, since we ate there twice, eating different meals and with different servers. Everything I said in my first review still stands. Very gracious people, wonderful food, service and atmosphere! You must try it!
