Yemanja Woodfired Grill
Aruba-s only wood-fired grill restaurant! Beautifully situated in downtown Oranjestad, behind the Renaissance Hotel. Yemanja is relaxing and welcoming, with a passion for tradition and excellence. Seating is either inside (air-conditioned) or outside on a cozy terrace. Serving innovative Caribbean cuisine. Locally-caught fish, shrimp, prime cuts of beef, lamb, pork, duck and poultry are all prepared over a wood fire using mesquite and hickory. Also our appetizers & salads are a real treat! The result is succulent, tender and flavorful dishes that only wood-fire grilling can produce.
We hope we may welcome you soon here in Yemanja.

We just came back from our first trip to Aruba with my two children (ages 10 and 13) and my in-laws. Yemanja Wood Grill was by far our favorite restaurant on the Island. Keep in mind we were there for 7 nights and ate out at many fine restaurants (including Madame Janette, Papiamento and Screaming Eagle). Yemanja is really a special place; the casual, friendly, warm atmosphere - the outstanding food and service, and the overall dining experience. It was so relaxing, enjoyable and delicious. I only wish we had gone back again. Our next trip will involve a lot more of Yemanja.

We went here based on reviews. I had the Seafood Trio which was very good and my husband had the Tenderloin Strip but was not that impressed with it. I also did not realize we would be so close to the road and the noise from the traffic and some fumes. I don't think we will be back here based on that.

We ate there on 2/9/2011

My husband and I split the Grilled Vegetable appetizer which was more like a salad and was wonderful. For dinner I had the Grouper Fillet on a fish recommendation from our waiter and my husband had the Brazilian Moqueca Trio. Both were excellent.
For dessert we had the Grand Marnier Creme Brulee. Yum, yum... Needless to say we did take home a dogie bag of left-overs.

Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. He helped make our evening. Atmosphere on the patio was nice for a downtown location and they did the best they could with what they have. THE FOOD MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR THE ENVIRONMENT... We will definately return next year!

This restaurant is now on our list for next year. We ate here the first time jan 11, 2011. We made reservations through our hotel for 7:30p. Unfortunately our concierge did not inform us that they have a 700p seating not 730p. So we arrived on time but late. The server was courteous and efficient (even though irritated at the hotel concierge), [This same thing happened to a party of six before us] We had a pleasant drink at the bar. We were seated quickly. The servers were continuously courteous and attentive. One in our party had the beef carpaccio
and loved it, the filo and goat cheese salad and the salad with woodfired vegetables were also very good. We had the lightly roasted duck, grilled tuna (delicious), surf and turf (the tenderloin was amazing, the shrimp was just okay). The strip loin was good. We enjoyed our desserts very much. My wife loved her chocolate mousse (fantastic). Our seating was inside because of the reservation snafu, but very nice. My wife thinks outside would have been a tad nicer.

We had such high expectations of this restaurant after reading all the great reviews here and on the Aruba restaurant site. Unfortunately, for us, the restaurant did not live up to the reviews. I had the French Onion soup which was good. I had the surf/turf for my meal. The shrimp was OK but the beef was dry and not much flavor. Sides were ok. SO had a tossed green salad - that was good and it was beautiful to look at as well! He had the ribeye for a steak and it was about 1/4 inch thick and again, not much flavor. Neither of us had dessert. The atmosphere is really nice, the service was good and the decor was very pretty.

One of the best restaurants on the island. The food is always fresh, creative and very tasty! The service is superb. A must to visit. Tuna tartar is my wife's favorite.
