Yemanja Woodfired Grill
Aruba-s only wood-fired grill restaurant! Beautifully situated in downtown Oranjestad, behind the Renaissance Hotel. Yemanja is relaxing and welcoming, with a passion for tradition and excellence. Seating is either inside (air-conditioned) or outside on a cozy terrace. Serving innovative Caribbean cuisine. Locally-caught fish, shrimp, prime cuts of beef, lamb, pork, duck and poultry are all prepared over a wood fire using mesquite and hickory. Also our appetizers & salads are a real treat! The result is succulent, tender and flavorful dishes that only wood-fire grilling can produce.
We hope we may welcome you soon here in Yemanja.

Been to Aruba three times now and that was our first trip to Yemanja. We absolutely loved it. The food was excellent and the service and ambiance was great. We would recommend this to anyone who really enjoys food and quality!

This restaurant was reccomended to us by some locals. The restaurant itself was lovely, and the food outstanding. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The Grande dessert is a sampler of all desserts on the menu- YUM!!!

In doing some research for our recent trip to Aruba I had read about Yemanja Grill and wanted to try it. With no Reservations since we are Bar People, we walked up, found seats at the Bar and were treated like we owned the place. Jose the Bartender was excellent, he was informative about the meals, the restaurant's history and Aruba in general. He made several recommendations which were spot on! I had one of the Chef's specials, Cioppino, it was excellent, plenty of fresh seafood including Scallops, Grilled Mahi Mahi, Shrimp, Calamri and Lobster. It came with some garlic toast so you could enjoy every bit of this dish. My girlfriend had the Fire Grilled Scallops and loved them. She was quite happy with the portion size and raved about the black bean side dish. The other great thing about the bar seats is watching the Chef cook on the grill (she is behind glass to reduce excess heat). While being attentive to her food and staff she still took time to ensure she looked up and acknowleged her patrons, very nice touch.
We had such a great meal and experience we returned three days later, we did have to wait a few minutes for a seat at the Bar but Jose not only remembered us by site, but remembered our names and previous orders. On the second trip I tried the Brazilian Trio, excellent and my girlfriend had the tenderloin, she commented one of the best steaks she had ever had.
We look forward to our next trip to Aruba and Yemanja Grill.

The good just keep getting better,Yemanja is a must for anyone who love quality food presented is a tasteful way.
My wife could not stop talking about her goat cheese salad,The Tuna TarTar
was frsh and yummy.
Our two guests for dinner who did not want to go here could not stop talking about their chicken dish, I thought that my brother in law was going to lick the bowl of sauce that came with the chicken.
Yemanja is out of the way a bit because it's in town, but don't miss it, it's woth the trip enjoy that's what Aruba is all about.

This was the first time we ate at Yamanja. It was March 2010. We expected the best and experienced the best. The Tuna Tartare was excellent, rib-eye was almost perfect, the Bananas Tartan and Walnut Ice Cream were incredible. "10s" all the way. We always follow "Doug and Dan's" recommendations because they know great food in Aruba. Thanks guys!!

After 5 nights on Aruba,we felt Yemanja was the best place we had eaten . The waitresses were very friendly, presentation of food right through to dessert was spot on and the Tuna steak, Chilean Sea Bass and Italian Grouper were out of this world. The banana tarte tartin for dessert "to die for" We know there many good restaurants to choose from but we'd put this one at the top of the list.
Fantastic !!!!!

Overpriced but decent food. Yemanja has good food but I think they are over priced and the service is somewhat slow. I ordered scallops which were good but not worth the $28.00 for 5 little scallops. My husband had duck which he said was good. My mother had chicken which was under cooked (scary for chicken) and way over priced. The wait staff was plesant enough but the service was way too drawn out. The bathrooms are weird. The toilet is in one room and then the sink is in another room which is practically in the dining room !!! When I tried to use the sink, there was a shirt in the sink that I assume had been left there by an employee. Will probably not return, it's not worth the money.

All we can say is 'Wow!' and keep on doing what you've been doing. On our last visit we enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass wrapped in prosciutto and of course those wonderful and plentiful Belgian mussels. We never miss having dinner at Yemanja - this year you were three for three.

I did not make a reservation for this eatery, which was a mistake as we were offered a table outside next to heavy traffic. When we said we would return at a later date with a reservation... a table inside was found in the corner of the restaurant where we subsequently forgotten by the waiting staff!
There was nothing special about our soup starters which took a long time to arrive but, an EXTREMELY long wait for the empty dishes to be removed and sitting without drinks resulted in a decision to settle the bill.
We went to this restaurant because it was number one on this website and had high expectations... if you decide to go then expect for it to be below your standards.
At one point I was tempted to return my empty plates to the kitchen myself... if I had, I would have had the displeasure of meeting a pretentious female COOK who must be a fan of Gordon Ramsay as the temperament (Looks were very similar also!) and attitude was similar to the great man! This COOK was consulted when we stated that we wished to settle the bill for some strange reason!
Go to Screaming Eagle or Amazonia Churrascaria instead and give this place a miss!

My husband and I ate here in Sept. 2010. It was wonderful. We split a steak and one of the fish dishes. It was particularly hot that night so we ate in the dining room and it was very comfortable. I loved how they served the four sides family style. This is the highest rated restaurant for a reason!
