El Gaucho
El Gaucho is located in an old townhouse at 80 Wilhelminastreet, it's the first Argentine restaurant to open it's doors in Aruba on February 17, 1977.

El Gaucho Restaurant serves a variety of tempting dishes, featuring quality Argentine steaks, tender and juicy, charcoal-grilled to perfection, such as the famous Gaucho steak, 16 oz sirloin, Pincho Torro Caliente (the biggest shishkebab ever served) T-bone steak, vealchop and more. While many restaurants are currently serving Churrasco steak, we must say that our version is the original and still the very best.

This was our 2nd time to El Gaucho's and we loved it again. We both had Steak's, which were very tender. The side dishes were great also. The service is excellent and we didn't feel rushed. We Will definitely return in the future.

WE ATE HERE ON 4/14/08. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT BUT WE COULD DO WITHOUT THE HOST PASSING BY OUR TABLE EVERY FEW MINUTES TO SPEAK WITH US.

At one time a great steak house that now takes a back door to newer steakhouses that can't afford to live on past reputations. Today's EL Gaucho wants you in and out as quickly as possible to get the table ready for another patron. Steaks are still good but side dishes are boring and over cooked. The atmosphere resembles Burger King with children running here and there from table to game room. Not a place to have a peaceful and relaxing dinner.

This is our first trip to Aruba and El Gaucho. We had a 6:30 reservation so it wasn't crowded yet. We were very impressed with the ambiance and were looking forward to a great steak dinner. The waiter recommended I try the Gaucho steak, a tenderloin, and my wife ordered the petit tenderloin. My Gaucho steak was extremely tough and I had to work hard to saw off each bite. My wife's petite tenderloin wasn't as tough but was served medium instead of medium rare. These are pretty serious sins for a highly regarded steak house. However, the side dishes were good, the service was outstanding, the atmosphere pleasant and the serenading guitarists a nice touch.

El Gaucho is one of the few reataurants that has improved during our 15 years of annual trips to Aruba. Last Wednesday we again experienced a high level of quality food and service. We were seated at our reservation time. The atmosphere is fine for non-smokers. If you enjoy any of a variety of meats you are likely to enjoy dining at El Gaucho.

THIS PLACE LIVES UP TO ITS REPUTATION. A SHORT WALK FROM THE DOWNTOWN BUS STATION, LOCATED IN AN AREA TO SCARE YOU. A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH. GOT THERE EARLY, HAD TWO STRAWBERRY DIAQUIRIES (FABULOUS) ABLE TO PICK OUR OWN SEATS. PLACE PACKED WITHIN 30 MIN AFTER WE CAME. WAITER WAS ACCOMODATING AND FRIENDLY. PLENTY OF MEAT, HUGE PORTIONS, AND NICE ATMOSPHERE. A NICE SURPRISE WAS A COUPLE OF GUYS ROAMING THE PLACE SINGING WITH GUITARS. HAD THEM SING HAPPY B-DAY TO MY GIRLFRIEND, AND ON TOP ASKED FOR A REQUEST. A MUST FOR ANY VISIT. ONCE AGAIN, COME EARLY, WE HAD RES FOR 7PM, ARRIVED AT 6, AND ATE AT 6:30.

We went on a Saturday night at 6 and the place was nice and pleasant. We got seated right away and the staff was great. I ordered the Tenderloin Steak petite cut 8 oz- very good! husband got the Gaucho Steak-16 oz. Both were juicy and excellent (no fat or grizzle). We had a coupon (see complimentary bag from airport) for a free sangria. Too full to eat dessert, next time. Would go back again and would recommend- MUST have the steaks there, skip the chicken!

Wow! Best meal we had in Aruba. We consider ourselves to be "foodies" and this is THE place to visit in Aruba. We ordered Land and Sea for Two and every bite was fantastic! They are open for lunch and it is very quiet then, no wait at all. If you want a big hearty meal to fuel your day of sun and sand, this will fit the bill.

We have been taking my husband's customers from all over the southeast for years and all of them always love it. The wait staff and Hostess are amazing and we also love the bar, Garifu's, and was so elated when we were there in November to see that they have Marsella back entertaining again! We have followed her to different locations all over Aruba! We will always return to Aruba and will always return to El Gaucho's. Linda & John, Charlotte, NC
