El Gaucho
El Gaucho is located in an old townhouse at 80 Wilhelminastreet, it's the first Argentine restaurant to open it's doors in Aruba on February 17, 1977.

El Gaucho Restaurant serves a variety of tempting dishes, featuring quality Argentine steaks, tender and juicy, charcoal-grilled to perfection, such as the famous Gaucho steak, 16 oz sirloin, Pincho Torro Caliente (the biggest shishkebab ever served) T-bone steak, vealchop and more. While many restaurants are currently serving Churrasco steak, we must say that our version is the original and still the very best.

If you are a meat lover: GO there! If you're not realy a meat lover: GO there and share a plate. That way you can enjoy the excellent taste of the steak, grilled to perfection, but don't have to 'work your way' throug 16 oz.
Very well trained personel, you just have to watch in their direction, so no 'snapping with the fingers' needed here.
We also share desert, something with a lot of chocolat.

My favorite place to eat in Aruba. I go there 3 times very trip to Aruba. The steaks and sauces are out of this world. Go early and have a drink across the street at Garfu. Garfu and El Gaucho have the same owner and the staff at Garfu will inform you when your table is ready. Also, the after dinner mints are great.

My wife and I really loved El Gaucho, and you better be in the mood for meat when you go!! The St. Louis ribs were a great appitizer, and our steaks were fantastic (my wife had a petit fillet, while I had the 16oz ribeye). Their house steak sauce is great! Wine prices are also reasonable compared to other restaurants in Aruba.

Friends from home recommended El Gaucho to us. Though the food was good our waiter was extremely rude and offensive. Having worked in the resturant business my husband and I are very empathic to tipping approriately. Included in the bill was a 15% service fee then we gave the waiter an additional 13% and included it on the credit card payment. He quickly whisked away the folder and rudely looked at us and said "I would have preferred cash". It ate at alot better resturants on our trip and were treated with upmost respect. We will not return to El Gaucho.

Last year I vowed not to return here for dinner again, after feeling like I was on an assembly line, being rushed through. So we came for lunch. We got there about 11:45, first people in the door, by the time we left there were about a dozen parties there. Lunch here is a much more pleasant experience than dinner. Our Gaucho steaks were perfect, and the sides very good as well. My husband especially like the broccoli sauteed with garlic and olive oil. The place is a little bit hokey, but the steaks are so good, we'll be back again - for lunch.

I can't begin to explain the fantastic meal my wife and I had here. The steak was cooked to perfection. I went with the ribeye on the waiter's recommendation and was not disappointed. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The two sauces and marinated onions were a great touch as well. My wife had the petit tenderloin and felt the same way. It was seasoned to perfection. The dutch apple pie for dessert was a can't miss and I highly recommend. Our waiter was great - not pushy, not rushing, but not slow either. Couldn't recommend this place more. We did see several families with children and would not hesitate to recommend for that either.

No one is more fussy about steak than me. it has to be cooked perfectly and it has to be tender and as in the first two times I've been there (many years ago) El Gaucho's did not disappoint. we went hungry and did not get any appetizers on purpose. my husband ate a 22 oz t-bone and I had the 16 oz rib eye. thought we might have leftovers for the next day but we didnt. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if I'm feeling like a great steak and since I have mostly fish in Aruba this was a steak to enjoy !
service and atmosphere was great

Every year, and this was our 11th year coming to Aruba we go to ElGaucho.
It is an institution on the island, and one of our favorite places.
The food is great.Thier signature steak is the best. Wonderful!
The service, the music, was the best.
This year , this March, was one of the nicest times at El Gaucho. We will be back again next year for sure.
