Que Pasa? - Restaurant - Bar & Art Gallery
Que Pasa Restaurant & Winebar has been a culinary institute since 1992. The restaurant is located in a historical merchant house in downtown Oranjestad, and its menu features a tasty variety of international specials, as well as freshly made sushi from their Dragonfly sushi station. Chef Michelle and her team go out of their way to make every night a culinary experience. The in-house wine connoisseur happily assists you in pairing the perfect wine with your dinner choice. At Que Pasa you will feel welcome and have a great time for sure. The friendly staff will serve you with a smile. And the food experience will keep you talking about it, even long after your visit.

If staying at the Ren then this place is a must eat! Located next door what this little place lacked in ambience made up for it in quality food. Our party consisted of six people dining outdoors on a quiet night for the restaurant. Some of us had fresh fish caught that morning and was excellent while one diner had pork that he said was just OK. Good service and nice not to load into a cab after dinner to get back to the hotel.

We were in Aruba in January and tried this restaurant because it got such great reviews on this site. We didn't find it to be as good as everyone says. We went early because we have young children so the place was pretty empty. The "kids area" kept my kids entertained but really doesn't have any decent toys, the are at El Gaucho is much better (I wish all restaurants would do something like this!)

2 of us started with the French Onion Soup which is delicious, 1 started with a fish soup which was also very good and 1 started with a salad that looked and tasted lovely.

For the main courses, 2 of us had the ribs which were very dry and unappealing, 2 had the tenderloin in wine sauce which were okay but nothing special. The kids had a pasta dish which was nice for them but if I had ordered it for me I would have been disappointed.

Overall, dinner was okay but I wouldn't be running back here the next time I go to Aruba.

December 12, 2006 (Tuesday eve) my wife and I accompanied our friends, Marty and Susan Lande who have raved about this place for the last year. (They have to come here at least three times a week while in Aruba. They have followed this restaurant since its origin.) We were not disappointed! The food is superb (a VERY gifted chef), presentation is gorgeous and the wait staff is great with only your pleasure in mind.

Two had the Filet with the special cheese . It was cooked perfectly, could be cut with a fork, and melted in your mouth. I had the special grouper filet with cheese. It was great! My wife had a two large appetizers that she loved. Our friends are right!

The restaurant was packed. Madame Janette's restaurant had their Christmas Party upstairs this night. (Does this tell you anything about this restaurant?) All this and everything was still top notch: service, food, presentation and you name it.

This restaurant is definitely going on our "must go to" list on our next visit to Aruba.

(We write very few reviews, travel extensively in our work, and have a son who is a professional chef--Johnson & Wales Univ. bachelor's in culinary arts with lots of experience. This is a great restaurant! We say this about very few.)

Chef Milan is truely gifted!!! (Thank you all at Que Pasa.)

We visited Que Pasa the first time in November of 2005 and ate there a second time before returning to the states. We just returned from Aruba Dec. 2006 and again ate there 2 times and my husband would have eaten there every night if I let him have his way...I thought we should try a couple of different establishments but you know what? I found myself thinking of what I ate at Que Pasa and wishing I was back! They had an apple spring roll desert on one visit that was absolutely amazing. We have tried quite a few restaurants on the island and this is definetly our favorite. Try eating here, you can't beat the price and you won't be disappointed.

We found out about this place from a waiter in another restaurant. There’s a small section with kids toys (I wish it was somewhere in the back of the restaurant and not by the front door). The food was very good and deserts were amazing. The place is highly recommended and it definitely in my top 5.

Recommended by Aruban friends. I visited Que Pasa twice in Nov. 2006. Both times we sat on the enclosed "front porch" on the first floor. Chicken Parmesan entree was wonderful. No ordinary dish with thick, semi-sweet red sauce, but delicious chicken stock reduction with hint of tomato, wonderful shredded mixed cheese topping flash broiled, topping a large, tender, moist piece of chicken. Outstanding Chocolate Mousse dessert is made with dark chocolate and is large enough to easily serve two.
Atmosphere is colorful, intimate, and relaxing. Prices are very reasonable. Downtown location is convenient, and "early bird" diners will find easy on-street parking in front.
Que Pasa is now on my "must visit" list for my yearly trip to Aruba.

What can we say...simply the best place to enjoy the real Aruba. The food is always to die for, the atmosphere is funky and fun... but the best things about Que Pasa are the people. The staff, the patrons...it is just a great place! Do not go to Aruba without checking it out. AND... If you have been to the old Que Pasa, you will know what I mean when I say the loo is quite improved!!!

Que Pasa? – what can I say? For us, this is as close to a local neighborhood restaurant in Aruba that you can get. There are regulars who we have seen here over the years – and newbies who quickly become repeat diners. Que Pasa moved up the block to a bigger home in July (the former Boonoonoonoo’s). They have done a wonderful job in bringing the old Que Pasa to the new location. Lot’s of space now and a beautiful new kitchen. Upstairs there is a charming gift shop and more dining space that has an open feeling to it as there are several French doors that open up to tables outdoors. The bar continues to be the heart of the operation and there is also a bar (the old one from the former location) upstairs. The staff is the most friendly anywhere; a good fun group of young people. The atmosphere is casual; the food is consistently wonderful and always offers a surprise or two. This year it was Shrimp Chow Mein. Don’t think the gooey, bland stuff they serve in the take-outs here in the USA. This dish really had great flavor and texture. I missed it on my first visit this year and was glad to see it on the menu the second time we went there. Besides regular items on their menu, Que Pasa always offers specials that change on a daily basis. There’s always a soup, salad/appetizer, shrimp, fish or meat entrée and dessert specials. Try these; you can’t go wrong. The tataki and sashimi are two appetizer favorites that we look forward to every year. We went three times this year. Banana Fritters and Chocolate Crème Brule top it off wonderfully. Thank God they’re not located in NYC. Oink!

Much to our surprise, Que Pasa moved two blocks up the street to larger quarters. For those who have been going to Aruba for as long as we have, this was the former restaurant Boonoonoonoo's. You can sit outside on a balcony overlooking the street or inside. Food was every bit as good; we ordered from the specials and were not disappointed and of course, banana fritters for dessert...YUM!!!
